I guess the word 'foam' scared everyone away :laughings:
Maybe just put it behind my amps. Maybe just throw it away. I dunno, it was certainly not money well spent :D
That's very reassuring. Thanks man! I don't really need a car or a house at the moment since my job is a bike ride away. A house would be better than the place I'm renting right now since it is a basement apartment which doesn't allow me to make a lot of noise. I'll keep at it and see how it goes :)
I have one, and it is a great device. The built-in microphones, however, are not very good IMO. As soon as I got an SE2200a microphone the sound quality was A LOT better. When I got another LDC mic, I was able to record classical guitar in stereo which was even better. But for now, of course...
Whatever triggers your creativity. To me, it is walking around in mountains for hours. After a while music just pops up in my head clearer than ever. I sometimes record ideas on my phone while I'm up there and transcribe it to the guitar etc when I get back home.
To others, creativity might be...
Good enough for what?
The performance is great. The vocal sounds a little artificial because of the doubler. Love the atmosphere of the song. It sounds.. well.. real! So it deserves real sounding vocals. Guitar sounds decent.
Thanks el duderinos. A couple more questions while we're at it.
For the back wall, does that count as early reflections as well? I bought some 4" Auralex foam a while back before realizing I needed real acoustic panels instead, so I'm considering using that until I get hold of some more panels...
Thanks. I realize it is a compromise, and I'm not really using it for any serious recording. It is more to be able to play the guitar through headphones while still using a real amps and cabs as I live in an apartment. Needless to say, I can't stand amp sims. Bottom line is, the response doesn't...
The preamps on the H4n are indeed noisy. IMO not just a bit. A lot! I've been using an external preamp (RME Quadmic) with mine and it's night and day. Love that little fucker to death though, it's a great recorder.
You can't really bypass the internal preamps completely, but if you have the...
Don't mean to go all off-topic, but John, how would you soundproof a fridge? I am using a large one as an ISO-cab. It works pretty well but I'm sure it could be better. I use some fairly expensive soundproofing ISO-blankets which helps a lot, but I'm sure it could be even better.
Gah. Thanks. I have my guitars hanging on that wall. I guess I'll need to find somewhere else for them then. Good to know the window above the monitors doesn't affect the sound much though :)
I don't have much to say about the production as my interface is being serviced and so my monitors are in boxes atm, but the song is really cool. Maybe a little repetitive, but still good. Sounds good on my laptop speakers. I agree the bass could be higher, but I can hear it for sure.
That sucks. You'd want to localize exactly what needs to be squeezed in order for the noise to go away. Could be the battery compartment.
EDIT: Is the noise there when you're using batteries? Is it there when you're using the power supply?
What kind of panels are that surrounding your drum kit? And what else do you use for acoustic treatment? I see a cloud up there too. Any treatment making a difference for your amp sound even if they are close miced? I just started treating my (very small) room with some 2" panels for early...
Amazing stuff as usual, Greg. Keep 'em coming. It is inspiring to say the least.
I remember reading a while back that what really matters is the source, the sound that is recorded, and I didn't really comprehend that before listening to your tunes. So thanks for that.
