    Guitars and tuning...please listen carefully

Hi, I'm writing a track...my problem is - I've done the guitars and redone them...I'm not sure if I'm hearing things since I've heard the track so many times now, but I think possibly the guitars might be out of tune in a few places....Please would you do your best to listen and let me know...

Anybody be interested in writing me some lyrics / recording some?

Since, this is ongoing, I post a link to the latest mix here (still sans vocals, though): http://www.cs.bham.ac.uk/~bhj/mp3s/novox.mp3 Ben.

Need advice about wall of guitars

For me, getting a heavy `wall of guitars' sound is about playing the part panned left, and then recording exactly the same part again, panned right. For me, this seems to never fail...Although, will always depend on the musical style, etc. Ben.

    Tell Me Why

I don't like country music, but your production sounded good to my humble ears. A slight hitch on FALL DOWN ON ME however: the right panned picked guitar is flat. Your vocal sounded very slightly flat to begin with, also. Just little things to be improved, though, nothing major :-) Ben.

Anybody be interested in writing me some lyrics / recording some?

Thanks... I don't mind going a little insane with the music :-p Was trying to stay away from traditional writing formulas...thanks for your comments, and Dogman, am very much looking forward to anything you come up with :-) Cheers, Ben.

Anybody be interested in writing me some lyrics / recording some?

Hi, its been a couple of years since I've done any recording, but since buying some new gear a couple of days ago, I've been inspired to write something. Only thing is, I'm shit at writing lyrics and am not a very good singer. Anyway, I have a track available at the following link, was wondering...

New song for my demo. Please critique!!

They're real? No shit.... How does that type of progamming work? Are they real loops that are comped together, or do you have to program each beat seperately?

Solo Acoustic Guitar "This Dragon Won't Sleep"

Man, this is cool. I think the second mix is slightly less toppy than the first, so is probably better. I'm going to check out Don Ross and Preston Reed. Another guy who I saw a few years back was Adrian Legg. Kind of reminds me of him too. He'd actually use the tuners as part of the...

New song for my demo. Please critique!!

Second listen. Yeah kind of reminds me of the spin doctors. The only thing, which is very, very minor as an issue, is some of the drum fills around 54 seconds or so lack presence - The snare sounds like its cutting outin few places. Perhaps over use of compression? But it really is a very minor...

New song for my demo. Please critique!!

Damn, there been some absolutely awesome stuff posted here this morning. This is no different. Nice work - you played everything? I wish I could play drums like that, would sure beat the shit out of the drum software I'm used to programming :-)

Drum Sound - love it, or hate it?

I'm listening to this on my ipod headphones at work, and wow, the musicality is bloody awesome. Production sounds fantastic too; I'd buy a cd of this kind of stuff.

Acid jazz/lounge (u name it) new project

Nice piano sound - what did you use? Bass guitar is too obviously synthesised at beginning of track however. Possibly get a real bass guitar on there?

Help me make this more Epic!

Orchestral placement Its been a while since I've attempted anything similar, but anyhow - The string sound is rather nice but on the long notes, you can hear the sample repeating itself. If you have access to them (/google search), perhaps you could use longer, more natural sounding samples...

dead muddy mix.... EQ tips? Any fresh ears! ROCK SONG

I've not heard of this technique before. I mean, whenever I hear pro mixes the drums always seem really wide, but I always assumed that this was just a result of a decent room reverb (and possibly compression). Do you mean that this is only applied to the hihat, or overheads, snare, kick etc...

    head cuttin' anyone??

... Hey thought I'd add my two cents worth. I recorded this track about five years ago when I was still at the age that I wanted to be the next Steve Vai. Let me know what you all reckon. Cheers http://www.cs.bham.ac.uk/~bhj/mp3s/engima.mp3 http://www.cs.bham.ac.uk/~bhj/mp3s/ and download...

Hey everyone, I haven't posted for a while. Anyhow, just got a new computer and it has spurred me on to try and remix some of my stuff, please let me know what you reckon of the following, it was mostly recorded last november; please be as critical as possible...
