    My MS16 is gone.

Are you gonna still hang out around here? Planning to get some multitrack stuff again when things get better?

    Tascam ATR 60-16

Yeah, that's wierd. I didn't think about that. You're right. Does this Amp Card look like the MS-16 cards? Strange!

Where can I get a tape head demagnetizer?

Look on Ebay for the TEAC/Tascam E-3 Demagnetizer. It has a skinnier design which would be great for getting into the small Head area of your Tape Echo. Don't forget at least 95% Isopropyl Alcohol. Good Luck.

    Tascam ATR 60-16

Hey ghost, maybe your 21st Channel Card was to an MSR-24, not an ATR-80. I have seen those Cards and they are VERY different from the MS-16.

    2 Otari MTR-10 Questions

I've had Azimuth problems before it definitely wasn't like this. That depends on what the VU Meters are showing in Repro. If they are both reading the same, they should be "ok" at the very least. Do both of your Meters read the same Levels? Continuously? Try Reproducing some 1khz tones and...

'fantastic tales', 'my otari attacked me!'

When I was replacing Relays in my MS-16, I was bleeding from several fingertips and burned by the soldering iron. I can think of at least 5 occasions where the amp cards have sliced my arms and hands. Those things are sharp! Lots of pokey stuff. Tape Machine restoration is a dirty job.

    My MS16 is gone.

Why are you selling all your multi-track equipment?

    analog studio photos

    That's awesome. I'd love a Tascam 48 and an Otari MX-5050

'70s Analog "studio," felt like bragging....

Well, like I said, I sold it. I did have the DX-8 Unit, but for some reason it always sounded a bit noisy(maybe the Model 5B?) and a bit squashed sounding(DBX NR) Then again, that was before I learned that you shouldn't push the Levels "so" high with the DBX. I think I may have been saturating...

    Well said.

'70s Analog "studio," felt like bragging....

WOW! Awesome system, song, and even better recording. I had this same setup but I sold it to upgrade to a Tascam MS-16 and M-520 Mixing Board. I am having bad gear nostalgia for my old 80-8 and Model 5B. I have to say, I'm jealous of the sound quality you're getting from that setup. Mine was...

    Tascam M-520 Recap

Thanks. Is it more of a priority to replace the Capacitors with higher Capacitor and Voltage values as opposed to ones with lower values? Meaning, the higher the values, the more affect they have on the equipment?

    Tascam M-520 Recap

THANKS! Great info. I will definitely use your PS-520 walk-through when I do mine. Clear pics and it really helped me get an idea of working in there. Yeah, everyone here has been wonderful. Thanks again

    Tascam M-520 Recap

Hey everybody... I have been thinking about Recapping my M-520 and PS-520. My M-520 is giving off quite a bit of noise/hiss as well as an ominous hum in the main Monitor Section. I also hear a LOT of hiss from the Aux Returns and from the Instrument Inputs too. Is this natural for this mixer or...

    Which Headphone Amp?

Cool. Thanks for the info. The Tascam seems like a good bet feature/price-wise.

    Which Headphone Amp?

I was thinking about getting the Tascam MH-40 Mk-1 or 2 Or possibly the Furman HA6A. Is the Tascam a reliable amp? It's old so obviously it's going to need some pots cleaned, etc But would that be a good choice? The Furman has a built-in Speaker Amplifier too which very handy for me because I...
