    tascam 80-8 & tascam m35

Just FWI Digidoon... The TEAC/Tascam Model 5's and the M-35's have 4 parallel Aux Outputs with the 4 main Submaster Line Outputs to accommodate an 8-Track recorder. Tracks 1-5, 2-6, 3-7, 4-8 are fed at the same time, so if you want discreet 8 Channel simultaneous Recording, you will need to...

    tascam 80-8 & tascam m35

My old 80-8 had this problem too. What you need to do is remove the side wood panels and use an allen wrench to loosen the 2 screws on the Reel drum. Then adjust it, re-tighten, and check the adjustment. I had to redo this process a few times but I got it. Good luck.

    My New Studio :D

Have you noticed any Transport issues with your MS-16? Mainly at the Capstan and Pinch Roller in Play, Rew, and/or FF? I have 2 MS-16's and both have this problem of rubbing up at the Tape Guides. I'm getting one of them fixed at Tascam right now and the other has been turned in for parts. When...

    Storing and Labeling Master Tapes

2 Questions: 1) How should I store my Tapes? I use an MS-16 1" Tape Machine that plays Tapes in a horizontal position, so should I keep them horizontally or vertically? I heard that storing horizontally can damage the edges. But I also heard that tapes should be stored based on how they are...

    Ampex/Quantegy 406/407 Mastering Tape?

I've been praying that Quantegy brings Analog Tape back. Since the 406 is the budget version of 456, what is the difference or downside to the tape?

    Ampex/Quantegy 406/407 Mastering Tape?

Awesome! That's the exact experience I was looking for. Someone with an MS-16 who has used this type of tape. Do you know the Operating Level of the Tape? Or does Bias Compatible mean it is the same? Thanks a lot. 1" Ampex/Quantegy 456 is getting so hard to find nowadays so it seems like a good...

    Ampex/Quantegy 406/407 Mastering Tape?

I see that Quantegy is still selling some types of tape in certain formats. The only 1" Tape they are selling is 406/407. It is a REALLY good price and it says Bias Compatible to 456. Does the 406/407 operate at +6db or +3db? How's the performance? Is it like 456? I see several new 1" 407 Reels...

    Tascam MS16 problem

Replace them all. Cory(Sweetbeats) helped me through all of this. I couldn't figure out what the problem was for the life of me. He's a great source of help. Thanks again Cory.

    Tascam MS16 problem

Hey there, The Relays are located on each Channel Card. 16 Sync Relays and 16 Record Relays. Each card has 2 relays, one for Sync(K1) and one for Record(K2). K1 and K2 are the names on the circuit board. K1 is the one next to the side of the card. The Relays are soldered(8 pins) to the PCB...

    Tascam MS16 problem

I had the same exact problem. The problem with my was that the Sync Relays were defective. They are Omron G2V-24S(something like that) Anyways, you cannot find these anywhere, so you can use Omron G5V-2-24VDC Relays. This solved it completely. Also try cleaning all multipin connectors w/ Deoxit...

    Tascam M-600 console

How's it going, I have not used one of these Consoles before, but I can tell you that I was eyeing one that was in near perfect condition w/ manuals, Patchbay sidecar, and Cabling for $3500 on Ebay. I have seen another for a similar price. Both Consoles were on the market for quite a while...

    Tascam Mastering Recorder?

I really want the console style with the Meters above the Transport, it looks so cool! How does it make Editing easier? Wouldn't you have to bend down to cut/splice the Tape?

    Tascam Mastering Recorder?

Awesome info guys! I REALLY wanted the Otari MX-5050 as my first choice, but I couldn't figure out how to use it with my M-520(why did Tascam always use Unbalanced RCA!?). I was even considering on getting a Mackie 24x8 because it is all switchable Unbal/Bal. I do wish that the M-520 at least...

    Tascam Mastering Recorder?

Thanks for the info. So what you're saying is to run via XLR at +4db into the Recorder and then run XLR at -8db to the unBalanced RCA Line ins at the M-520, right? Thanks so much.

    Stereo Power Amp choices?

I was looking for an Amp that can be secured in a 19" Rack because I have plans for a small mobile setup where I can have all my outboard gear in a single audio rack. I'll keep open to the idea though. Thanks
