I completely agree, In my experience the only people who talk bad about dverb are those who don't know how to use it properly.

I don't have the mbox 2, but I do have the original mbox and the 002r and yes, I actually use a preamp on both of them.

Normally when I get that sound it's when I set up let's say bus 3-4 then i forget and route bus 3-4 on top of the aux input that i set to be 3-4. So just make sure everything is routed correctly. Because as others have said it's not a dverb issue something else is going on there.

The bigger hard drive shouldn't entice (I hope that's spelled right) you because you would want to run at least 2 hard drives anyways, so save the money get the smaller hard drive and then buy you a backup drive to record and save all of your audio files to.

When you say noise do u mean coming from the unit itself or coming out of the speakers? If it is coming from the box itself then if you bought it brand new I would try to get it replaced, as for if it is coming from the monitors not sure how to help you with that one.
