    oh man..another question protools

I completely agree, I started off using nuendo and like I stated my boss had the waves bundle, so we had a few different things and when we switched over to Pro Tools we started playing around with the included plugins. I honestly say though if you want to buy some plugins go for it, but as far...

    oh man..another question protools

To be honest the free eq, compression, Reverb in protools is called Dverb. All of those that are standard in protools really does the job just fine. At the studio I work for the owner spent money on third party plugins of those listed, And we never even use them because stick with the ones...

    digidesign003, now what?

I agree completely, Spend the money treating the room. Because the pres on the 003 are cool does not color the sound. So get your room treated properly and then go from there and get you a pre, because the akg mic you have is a good mic, I used it for years and then I got the NT1A. Room...

    plugins mac/windows

LOL. Don't feel bad I think Tim does he just broke it down so that jmorris could understand it. Oh, and even some digidesign based plugins are platform specific because I purchased some a while back when I was using windows machine, and now that I'm running mac they won't work on it.

    Non apple mac?!

I would assume that if they didn't take the proper precautions then this would've actually been an issue years ago. But I guess we will have to wait and see.

    berkleemusic.com

After going to the website I stand corrected it is the best, and agree with this post, as to what I was stating was doing the online classes. I should have elaborated a little more. Now if you do want to do classes for audio you should do physical classes because like I stated in my previous...

Anyone use a pre-amp with an Mbox 2?

True, but if you get a great sound going into protools then you won't need plugins to make it better. The main plugins that I use are all free with protools.

    Non apple mac?!

I'm sure that's not gonna hold up, because they are making software for their hardware. Because if that's the case then Digidesign would have been sued as well for having to use their hardware in order to run their software. In all reality it's the same principals behind it.

Mac OSX on a PC for recording

Sorry for asking a lot of questions but if you have a macbook, you are using a mac, does it really matter if it's on a desktop or laptop? Just trying to see the reasoning behind this.

A Used laptop for my 003

For that price I wish I had a need for the 003 but I don't. I have two of the original mbox's by far my favorite out of the mbox series, And also a 002r. I'm sure it won't be hard for you to sell it though.

    berkleemusic.com

I have never heard of it, but I just don't see how taking an online class could really teach/train you or your ear. I think it would be a waste of money honestly.

Anyone use a pre-amp with an Mbox 2?

I use a focusrite voicemaster pro, and I can't think of the exact name of my other preamp but is focusrite as well. As you can tell I love focusrite pres. IMO they are the best AGAIN NOONE FLAME ME I SAID IN MY OPINION.

    Do you listen to learn?

LOL @ RAMI and yes, I listen to everything to find out what was right and wrong, and even the occasional how/what did they do to get that sound. Now it's time to experiment. lol I listened to a lot of things that I used to like a long time ago and now I'm like wow their sound sucked. But...
