Which Way Do You Prefer To Bounce?

48kHz/24bit and then, using dither, convert down to 48kHz/16 bit for bounce out. If it's going to CD, obviously 44.1kHz/16 bit.

    pro tools LE?

there is no "normal" pro tools there is Pro Tools HD, Pro Tools LE, and Pro Tools M-Powered if you don't already know what HD is or who it's targeted towards...then LE is fine for you. The Mbox 2 Mini will come with Pro Tools LE. But decide what your needs are first and then find something that...

nice...did you do the QRD yourself?

    Io

renaming should be self explanatory...so you can label the paths. It's more common in the larger studios to move paths around. Especially if you're working with surround sound or have several different monitoring paths. You may also have external gear you're working with too. Basically it's...

PT 8 Accessing lower frequencies for kick drum

well, how is everything hooked up. We need specifics. for example "Mbox out 1-2 via 1/4 cable to the HK speakers inputs (which model??)" how does it get to the sub? Does the sub already work with other material that isn't played back through PT? Most likely your problem is the sub isn't...

    Uploading Sessions

the entire session folder would work...provided it was in a ZIP or RAR format. Most file upload sites and people prefer to work with a single file rather than hundreds of smaller files (unless you're talking about doing a torrent or something) most free uploading sites have 100MB limits though...

PT 8 Accessing lower frequencies for kick drum

computer top speaker=monitors or "mains" bass speaker=subwoofer I'm guessing this is what you're referring to? What speakers and interface do you have and how are they setup? Give us exactly how you have everything plugged in, routed in PT, etc.

    bouncing tracks

if you need a quick export of a mono or stereo file from a single track...you can use the export region as file. However it doesn't render effects to it. In order to render RTAS plugs you need to bounce in real time.

switching over, where do i start

it's actually really simple. If you want to purchase an all in one unit...you'll need to look at Pro Tools LE packages. Such as the ones on this page: http://protoolsforum.com/ProToolsLE1.html (note some of the newest interfaces are not listed on that chart). If you're wanting to run 8...

Frame rate math? (29.97 to 25fps)

+1 steve.h I deal with that EVERYDAY...and with both paying and non-paying clients who love to change things at the last minute. They don't seem to realize how hard it is to move 48+ tracks of audio with hundreds of regions on them. I can do it, but in the end I never feel like it still had the...

Frame rate math? (29.97 to 25fps)

if might work too if you were able to convert your sample rate downward (or is it up?). Something like a 4% down and a .1% down. So if your original sample rate was 48kHz, maybe a file sample rate of 46,033.92Hz would work. Played back at 48kHz of course. Time compression would sound better...

Frame rate math? (29.97 to 25fps)

I'm guessing you have Pro Tools LE? Do you have the DV Toolkit option installed? This feature may only be in the DV Toolkit I think. So it's still off though just a slight bit? I'm thinking an easy option might be to just time compress the rest of the audio...hopefully not changing the sonic...

Frame rate math? (29.97 to 25fps)

hmm...yeah, double check frame rates every time you load up a video into the session. Or anytime you're working with something that is going to be laid back to video/film. This is a lot of thinking for me (it hurts, lol)...but you might try changing the video rate pull factor (bottom of the...

Frame rate math? (29.97 to 25fps)

is the final video being released in PAL format? Does the animator work abroad with you...I just noticed you were in Ireland have you tried adjusting the timecode rate in the session setup window?

How do you bus tracks to the master fader?

if you turn down your track...and it's too quiet with respect to the rest of the mix, then turn down the other tracks with it. This is what mixing is. You balance all the tracks evenly and avoid clipping while you're doing it.

How do you bus tracks to the master fader?

the master fader is just a representation on what is going out the outputs. if you're clipping at the master fader, then one or more of your audio tracks are too loud. Turn down the faders on your audio tracks.
