    HD to LE

there will be little to no degradation in quality going from HD to LE. yes, we could argue against 48 bit and 32 float mix busses...but really, it's digital to digital...you won't notice a thing. Since you have already recorded the tracks in HD, you won't notice any difference in converters...

    Large consoles in big studios

well, typically on some large format consoles you have two faders for each channel. One for the record side going to tape and the other for monitoring. That way you can send each individual track to a DAW and then send each individual track back out to the console for example...

    mixer/sPDIF routing quest

there's not a cable that will fix it for you. They are two completely different signals. The only way to connect analog to digital is with an A/D converter...which is what the Audiophile is. Your soundcard is already taking the other mixer's RCA (analog) signal and converting it into digital for...

    mixer/sPDIF routing quest

what behringer mixer? S/PDIF is a digital connection, so you need to connect the digital output of a device into it. If the behringer doesn't have a digital output option (S/PDIF output), then it won't work. RCA connectors can be used in both analog and digital form.

    Bouncing each track independently

If you have to render any RTAS/TDM plugins, you'll have to bounce them individually. People have asked for an offline bounce from Digi for a long time. You export the WAV/AIFF files via Region bin-->Export Selected as files...but that won't render any effects you have to the tracks. If all the...

    Calibrate 002 monitor outs w/console..?

need more info...what console, what monitors do you have? If passive monitors....what amp? Typically, straight up is unity on most things. I haven't seen any write ups on where it is on the 002. But a good place to start would be to leave the knob pointing straight up. Then it's just trial and...

    plugin delay compensation in LE

that's a way around it...but can be confusing as hell when you got lots of other audio/aux/instrument tracks in the session. Especially if you have a complicated routing scheme going on. And what about the original dry drum tracks if you're doing the NY compression? The Aux track is delayed...

    plugin delay compensation in LE

best way then if you want to do that....get the sound you want and bounce both the original audio and the effected aux track to a new track and adjust the newly created region to play in sync

    digidesign003, now what?

if you've got 1500 to spend, I'd use it on room treatment. It can make a world of a difference.

Help Me With My Pro Tools Disabilities Thread

I don't think you need to trash the prefs. as part of a monthly routine....but it's good every once and awhile when something weird pops up. I don't think I've trashed mine in about a year. Look over this: http://protoolsforum.com/DigiPrefs.html

    Clipping issues

that's a common problem with people using Pro Tools. A lot of people think the master fader isn't always necessary unless you want to turn the volume up of all the tracks. The master fader is the stereo buss for your main outputs. It tells you the levels of everything going out to your speakers...

    Clipping issues

nope...the alert is there for a reason. You don't want any clipping anywhere. The master fader measures the SUM of all your other tracks. You may have 6 individual tracks that don't clip on their own...but when they are all bussed to the master fader they are summed together. And when you sum...

    dual monitor

PC? you need to stretch the main PT window to the second monitor. Not the edit/mix window...but the window you see when PT starts up. If it's maximized full screen you may have to 'restore' it so you can resize the window to take up both screens. Then when you create a session you can move...

Will my VST plugins from Cubase work with Protools LE?

you'll never know everything! None of us will...it's a constant learning game. :) But the best way to learn as much as you can is just to do it. I learned Pro Tools not only because of the certification I went through (that helped a lot) but also because I use it every single day. But I know...
