    Just to Stay

I would take out that drum fill in the beginning. It's off beat unless you cut the clip and make it work. But rhythmically it's not really cutting it. Actually a lot of the rest of it is very rhythmically discombobulated. The piano part gets out of time with the bass a lot and vice versa. Cool...

Do you feel mixing is another performance or something you let sit.

I'd have to vote for "let it sit". I dont really have the option to mix in real time and if I would it wouldn't be very efficient. I unfortunately have a lot more than fading going on. My tracking stage doesn't go as well as Daniel's. I have to add other effects then automate volumes and such...

    Ozone question for "Massive Master"

Hey, I'm no master of mastering. In fact, the way you want to use Ozone would typically be classified as mixing. I'm not sure what DAW you're running but there are a wealth of free plug ins out there. I sometimes use this multi-band compressor VST http://www.kvraudio.com/get/950.html As for EQ...

What is the origin of B string tuning?

I have heard that it was that typical folk chords were easier to play. But I don't really see it.

    Most under-rate/under-exposed guitarist...

Sam Zurick of Make Believe and Joan of Arc. I don't know enough guitarists to make a claim on "most under rated" but I think Sam Zurick is underrated. Elliot Smith rocks but I don't really think he's under rated.

How much did you pay for your most expensive axe?

The most I've spent on a guitar is 199 for my first squier 9 years ago. Now I play a no name guitar that was about 100 bucks. I try to live within my means. I actually put a lot more money into recording. I'm more of a recording gear slut than any sort of guitar slut.

    Daily Guitar Regimen

That's exactly what I'm striving to do. My friend (upright bass jazz performer) talks about how much he practices. He says he used to practice between 7 and 10 hours a day 5 years ago. Now he says that it was too much but he still tries to practice 3 hours a day. While I think that's great...

    Daily Guitar Regimen

Hey Teysha! I'm gonna give this a try tonight. Seems interesting. I've just been plowing through my exercises at a straight tempo. This could be just the ticket! For me, it's funny with the exercises. Say I can play 16th notes on 100 bpm (if each beat represents a quarter) for my exercises...

    Daily Guitar Regimen

I'd like to consider gigging practicing. Any time spent on the guitar for me I'd like to consider practicing. It's time spent honing your skills. I wish I spent four hours a day playing guitar!:)

    Daily Guitar Regimen

That's actually something that seems to work for me. If I'm trying to learn something new, I practice it for a bit, then I take a break from it then come back to it. After the break it feels like it soaked in a little more. I also have a hard time focusing on one thing for a long length of...

Would recording in 24 bit/48kHZ present a problem in the mastering process?

It has no sample rate.. it's analogous! :) I think the OP is satisfied with our answers...

    Daily Guitar Regimen

What is your personal guitar regimen? How long does it take? How is your practice divided (scales, arpeggios, writing, gigging, improvising, speed drills, theory, sight reading etc.) ? I'll start... Erock's Guitar Regimen (as of 10/21/09) Picking technique/speed drills (5-10 min.) Sight...

    The BEST use of Autotune

It's funny that they can make something sound "musical" (I say that with caution) that had no intentions of being "musical". What does that say for today's autotuned artists? It used to be a requirement to be able to sing in tune if you wanted to make a good record.

    Autumn Leaves, jazz tune

Hey Pixel! I don't have the mp3 encoder for ProTools but maybe you can try what I do... I bounce to WAV or AIFF or whatever and then open it up in Reaper. Then use the lame enc mp3 encoder. I'm sure you can do this with Audacity and a few others as well. Maybe this is something that could...

Would recording in 24 bit/48kHZ present a problem in the mastering process?

The Mastering Engineer wants you to record the best possible sample rate possible just so you can give him the best audio possible. 96 is higher quality than 48 but will take up more space on your computer. I'm not sure if I could hear the difference but plenty obviously can. It's a matter of...

    Ever get disheartened?

I wouldnt call it disheartened but I go through stints where I have a lack of motivation. Where I don't have the urge to practice and learn more or write something. It also seems that I am most in the mood when I dont have the chance. Like if I'm out somewhere and can't play my guitar, I usually...

How classical theory applies to everyday music...

I'm learning the theory side of things after playing for 9 years with no theory. I'm hoping to one day be able to use the theory in my writing but still I can write more convincing things with just "feeling". I'm going to try singing more with my playing as I've heard that's one of the best...
