    Drum Triggering

http://www.boxsounds.com/vst.html Look at replacer. I haven't used it but it seems to be a free trigger. You can put your kick sample there and have it sound robotically consistent. Your kick will sound more alike a lot of the sounds on recent hardcore records.

Good beginners guide to audio electronics?

Thank yrdbird. This is actually need something a little more elementary than the FAQ. The FAQ talks about using the different components while I need to just learn the basic functions of the components before I can dig into that.

Good beginners guide to audio electronics?

Here's the FAQ yrdbird was referring to. Looks like it can be a great source. I had a little trouble finding it so I figured maybe I could save you a little of the looking.. http://www.diystompboxes.com/wiki/index.php?title=DIY_FAQ

Good beginners guide to audio electronics?

Just wanted to sign in and say that I too have been looking to learn more about the aforementioned subject. I'll have to read some of these suggested sites. Just letting you know you're not alone!

    Mixing-Reverb-different outcomes on different speakers

Maybe even before new monitors, you should consider room treatment. Mixing with monitors gives you a better perspective on the stereo field (left to right) and the levels of each respective track (front to back). Headphones don't do these functions as clearly as monitors will. Sometimes a new...

instrumental epic rock song for action video game

I really like the lead guitar sound. Awesome kind of room sound or whatever it is going on there. I think a different beat for the drums would make it less robotic. It's playing the exact same accents as the guitar and that doesn't make for much contrast. Sometimes with programming drums, I...

    Home Recording Label, idea

Not sure how all of this stuff would work but I'm glad you guys are being proactive. With the name thing, it's going to be hard to get anyone to agree .. I think we mostly have different tastes on what an appropriate name would be. Good luck nonetheless.

    Rock/Indie track - please critique!

I would say lower the bass and bring the other stuff up. As Chickn said, try another way to get the vox to blend. Maybe some delay. Nothing is really clashing so the mix aint bad. Maybe something more on the drums, they sound a little fake. If you don't think many people are giving feedback...

    Classic Snare

Just found a cool video on youtube (searched "ringos drum sound"). Guy creates a cool little dampening device to get that deadened drum sound. Might be a good start for you. Even interesting for me as I dont like much ringing going on with my snare sound.

    Classic Snare

When I think beatles abbey road snare, I think very DEAD sounding. No, not in a bad way. There doesnt seem to be much reverb on it if any. Maybe just the room mic. The snare is tuned actually pretty low it seems. There is NO ring at all that I can hear. All I hear is a little whoosh (as in like...

n e opinons on the First Act USB cable?

Those boxes, IMO would be a much better investment. You're very limited with the first act cable. You can record maybe a guitar and not much else. With one of those interfaces, you'll have the nucleus of your studio. Preamps for microphones, DA converters for your monitors, maybe a headphone...

n e opinons on the First Act USB cable?

If you want to talk about digital.. I'm trying to say that the A/D will convey those 1's and 0's differently. The better it can translate that sound into 1's and 0's, the better it will sound once digital. Maybe I just misinterpreted what you meant by durable.

    Why Selling on iTunes SUCKS!

You should read the e-book, it's a short read and may inspire some new perspective. A few of the main ideas that I recall that inspired "why selling on iTunes sucks" are... - The artist only makes a small percentage of the song's cost (roughly 30 percent). - There is no pricing option; singles...

    Why Selling on iTunes SUCKS!

I read the e-book. Thanks for taking the time to write it up. Some good ideas in there. While I agree that selling on iTunes sucks, the whole mailing list idea doesn't seem to work well for me. I imagine not many kids would actually put their email on the list but at this point what do I have...

n e opinons on the First Act USB cable?

It has to have an A/D converter. Or else they wouldn't put a usb on one end :). That's where the quality comes in .. how good is the a/d conversion. To seafroggys .. even with cables, there is more than just durability. There is quality of components used in the cables. The contacts and wiring...
