    different guitars......same track

Any AC/DC record. Malcolm and Angus use the same guitars every time. Their amps have always been pretty much the same as well.

    different guitars......same track

There is a Cheap Trick song called Hard To Tell that Rick Nielsen uses a Les Paul for the intro lead lick and then A Telecaster for the main rhythm guitar track while Robin Zander plays a Mosrite. There are no rules.

    Double Bass kit

You're not alone! 2 kicks are better IMO. I agree with you 100%. You should get two 24 inch kicks like Alex Van Halen! Bigger is better in kick drums IMO Unless you're playing jazz or fusion.

    Double Bass kit

aww, but it looks so much cooler!! It's not that big of a deal anyway. It's just one more drum.

    struggling with bass drum

Clear Remo Powerstroke 3 or Evens EQ3 batter head and a wood beater. 24 inch kick drums are awesome!

    Recording Drums

I've made some pretty good recordings with cheap mics. It's all in your ears man. If I can make a shitty kit sound good with cheap mics and 2 tracks, than there is hope for anyone on a budget.

    Timing Issues

Hey John, I just listened to all three of the songs and the whole band needs to tighten up a bit. BTW, great songs and everyone has potential as players and as a band. Your drummer needs to play less! He is averaging a drum fill every other measure. That is like playing a guitar solo...

I've got a problem with a loud drummer, need some advice.

Nothing's wrong with that man! Playing live is more fun than rehearsal so we all play louder, harder and with more energy.

    WTF is up with Marshall?

I'm not talking about the custom shop guitars, I'm talking about the standard les pauls. in 1992, a new Les Paul Standard in a sunburst was $1200.

    No he wasn't.

    WTF is up with Marshall?

Maintenance and repairs are different. I have no problem with mainenance (tube replacement, biasing, cleaning) it's the bullshit repairs and unreliabillity that I have a problem with. Blame the amp? Yes I am! I use NO pedals and have brand new high quality cables and guitars. Who is dumping...

    help tuning!

Get rid of the coated g2's. I'd go Remo. Clear Emperors, coated emperors or even clear pinstripes are ok, just don't use a pinstripe on the kick! I tune the bottom heads tight, then the batters to the desired pitch. It works out for me.
