Building new audio computer, what should I pay focus to?

Thanks guys, that gives me some to work with. Actually I was mainly considering a new desktop so I could put more memory in it. My motherboard has a max of 8GB which I put in it. But since most of you are saying that 8GB should be enough. And my core2duo 3.16Ghz processor still should be...

Building new audio computer, what should I pay focus to?

Probably this question has been asked a thousand times. 7yrs ago I built the computer I use now. But it starts to have more and more audio glitches even if my projects use only about 5 tracks. I would like to be able to play around more with live effects like reverbs over voice and such...

Feedback problems on vocal mic in practice room

In my small studio I also weekly practice and write with my band. Small room with drumkit two guitar amps and bass even if I'm holding back on the drumkit still gets pretty loud. The problem is that vocals can't go as loud as would be nice in the mix. In some practice rooms I have been this...

Bash this mix: Orginal Rock song live studio mix

Haha, I know I did. I put up a Youtube link here's another one: https://youtu.be/yXl5MhYT5xs?t=17s that is the wav file. Which is 80mb so I won't post it here. I can render an mp3 if that is what you mean... DM60: I think I slightly overdid it on the limiter. I'll have a listen to what it...

Bash this mix: Orginal Rock song live studio mix

https://youtu.be/yXl5MhYT5xs?t=17s Hey Guys, My band is doing a big dutch band competition and we are with the best 100 for which we had to write a song about freedom. We had to do this live in the studio (we only retracked the bass guitar, but don't tell anyone...). I had a lot of bleed in...

Why is the volume of other tracks so much higher then mine?

Haha, nice derail guys. Good subject though, I should try those sites like reverbnation and cdbaby more. Although it is not big bugs it would be nice to earn a bit of money with my music, good job there Broken! Someone on topic also caught my eye: I didn't know this Farview, I'll probably...

Why is the volume of other tracks so much higher then mine?

How do I know if my mix 'stands up to a bit of limiting without falling apart' ? Anyone any general guides for how much I must limit, what kind of settings to use etc. My limiters (the standard Reaper ones) have some more knobs to fiddle with and they have different names. The names are also...

Looking for interface that also makes live mixes without latency, for live recordings

Yeah, I will start looking for a headphone amp. I guess that is the best solution for now. Thanks for the advice! @mjbphotos, I don't think I can set my buffer so that latency is low as I'm already dealing with quite some glitches, pops and such. (I put a question about that in a new topic) But...

Glitches since I changed from 32bit to 64bit

One week ago I changed from 32 to 64bit to be able to use more internal memory. I also upgraded from 4 to 8gb(max my motherboard can handle) of internal memory. And had hoped that latency would be less and that my computer would be faster to use for mixing and recording. However it glitches...

Why is the volume of other tracks so much higher then mine?

Thanks guys. I have no experience with limiters whatsoever but we'll look them up and fiddle around with that. As for the overall dullness and even distribution in the lows and midlows, is that something I should fix in my mix or with mastering?

Looking for interface that also makes live mixes without latency, for live recordings

Hey guys, Currently I use the TASCAM US-1800 which works great for recording drums, guitars and vocals seperatly. However we, as a band, want to get more into vlogging and would like to record more of our tracks live. I have tried to use live monitoring with the TASCAM but it only has one...

Why is the volume of other tracks so much higher then mine?

Hey guys, I hope the following question has to do with mastering. Cause all though I try I might not have totally grabbed the difference between mixing and mastering. In the mixing process I tried to have none of my tracks clipping so all of them beneath +12 (I use reaper so I just move...

    Drum Heads

That should sound awesome, Greg! I would not use heads with any dampening like the controlled sound or the powerstroke. I would go thin and undampened. I use Remo Emperor or Evans G1, and both ring quite nice :)

Latest version of Pop-Rock original: Afterwords. Your feedback is awesome!

I'll notch up the vocals. @Robus yeah, parallel compression improved the clearness of the bass big time, so I could get it nice in the mix. What would you change about the ambiance on the drums? I gave the drums the same reverb the rest of the mix has, only a bit more of it (using a buss)...

"What Will It Take", Rock Cover, Critique Request

Nice performance, your voice works good on both the soft as the louder parts, cool! I would give the vocals a bit more volume in the intro, try to put them a bit more up front. And a bit more snap to the snare in general but especially in the loud part just before the outro. (but I like loud...

Latest version of Pop-Rock original: Afterwords. Your feedback is awesome!

Hey guys, Here is the latest version in which I tried to use all your feedback. Especially the drums did improve much, parallel compression worked incredibly well, also on the bass which got much tighter. I also compressed the vocals some more and did a little autotune/manial tuning to it. The...
