    My first video

Well done, it's good for your first music video! My biggest complaint however would be the constant use of fade to black in between shots. There's a general rule about transitions within the editing circle - they're a cop out. If you cant simply cut from the one shot to the next, and have it...

Heavy Alternative Rock - South African band "Set For The Sky" Music Video

Hey guys :) So I'm a film student, and I also love messing around with sound recording as a personal hobby. Therefore Music Videos are quite my thing. Please take a look at this track from a friend of mines band - I rate his recording of the song is pretty top notch. Both he and I would love to...

What type of camera makes this type of Music Video?

This is without a doubt DSLR footage. Possibly a higher end digital cinema camera, but judging by budget I would bet DSLR. I wouldn't say 7D. To me it looks very Canon 5Dmkii with a 50mm f1.8 or possibly f1.4 To achieve this "cinematic" look you are talking about, all you need is a camera that...

being a free producer for experience

I would like to add, but make them pay a little bit.. Even if its really near nothing, and you make it seem like you are being extra kind to charge low price to record them. I'm sure you are more than competent enough to give out a good result. And as been mentioned multiple times, you really...

Is Buying a second hand mic worth it?

Alright! I bought it! Thank you all for the help, I am glad I went for it :)

being a free producer for experience

I get it if you don't have much experience or gear. However, it can be a tricky thing. I have heard the advice many times that, if you don't think your worth spending money on, then no one will think you are worth spending money on. You have to be proud enough of your work that you think you are...

Is Buying a second hand mic worth it?

That's what I thought. I'm buying it for video use, just wondered if it would be useful at all. But, seeing as I only have one dynamic mic to record with, I guess this is better than nothing in the studio :)

Is Buying a second hand mic worth it?

Haha guys, this thread has had some great comments! :laughings: And thank you for answering my question, it has made me feel a lot better about it, and hopefully soon I'll be the proud owner of an NTG-1! On a side note, is the NTG-1 any good as a studio or live mic? Thanks! :D

    Need some advice...

I'm personally a huge fan of the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Audio Interface. It is a brilliant bang for the buck. So if you are going to buy an audio interface, check that one out along the way.

Is Buying a second hand mic worth it?

Hi all, So I found this guy selling an Rode NTG-1 for a really good price. (In american dollars, basically about $90) I can't think that there is much danger in this, as if it works when I buy it, the only way it could stop working is if I mistreated it. Is that right? Or is having a warranty...

How to capture video and sync with audio

I think you need to tell Camtasia what audio drivers to use. It is quite likely it is trying to record from your motherboard sound driver, while cubase is using your Asio driver. If you cant specify what to use in Camtasia, try disabling all the sound drivers except for your Asio one in the...

    Writing bad songs

I can see why Greg says what he does, because he is taking it from the point that the "bad" is someone else's opinion. But I tend to agree that as long as it is your own work, you can say whether a song is good or bad. And I think you do have to write a few, or many "bad" (Or at least not up to...

    Working on Video

Nice song. If I were you, I'd spend a little more time crafting a story line that goes with the song. Then spend time shooting those scenes that add a story element to the music video. It will make it much more interesting and keep the audience engaged. A few other things about the edit: Try...

What makes a producer have a "Sound"?

Wow guys, thanks for all the informative replies! The music industry is a complicated place. By the sounds of it, a producer has to pretty much be a better artist than the artist he is recording :p As far as I have heard, producers mostly make a band better. But I can totally see...

Link for Link - Listen for Listen ?

There is a lack of progression through out the song. I listened for a minute, then skipped ahead 3 or 4 times to try see where the song goes, but it essentially stays the same all the way through. On the mix side, it seems to be lacking a grounding. As hip-hop normally goes, there is a thick...

What makes a producer have a "Sound"?

Hi everyone, Sorry if this isn't in the right forum, I wasn't too sure. So I have always wondered, what is it that gives each producer a 'sound' that is recognizable as theirs? Doesn't a producer simply direct the mixing of the tracks? For example, there are bands that I listen to that had a...

    Look at us now

Wow, thank you very much! I have never heard of the band before, but I'll take a listen out of interest. The latest version of your mix is absolutely great. The guitar tone is just personal preference, but the mix itself is perfect to me. And I think the guitar tone is fine. Like I said before...

    Look at us now

really cool song. I found that there seemed to be a bit of a mid scoop or something going on. Not sure if its just me. All the highs and lows are there. I just seem to be missing some of the mids from the voice. I really like the wide panning on the backing voices. Really easy to listen to song

    Storm

There does seem to be a bit of a lack of a proper key or central idea. Although, if you are going for avant garde style music, there is no right or wrong. And you certainly have something avant garde there.

Erasure/Savage Garden style song from KOMPOZ...please leave comment

Hey, thanks for the feedback :) I really do appreciate it all. Unfortunately I'm not the singer, I do all the other instruments, and I do the recording and mixing. I'll pass on the feedback to the other guy though. He can be a lil defensive on his singing side.. but I hope he takes your advice...
