    Starting my Home Studio...?

How do you think this mac would handle the 002R & PT?

    Starting my Home Studio...?

So it would be better to purchase a $500 used G4, then having a $500 PC built? The 002R and PT would run better on the G4 than the PC, right? Do the people that sell these used G4s usually format the computer, as to erase the personal files and installed programs? Would this be an example of a...

    Starting my Home Studio...?

According to this DUC post, I could go to my local PC Shop and have them build a PC using this list (below) that could handle PT. The Allenstein Machine Aspire X-Dreamer II case with 350W PSU 54.00 Asus K8V SE Deluxe Motherboard-Retail 114.00 Athlon 64 3400+ 2.4Ghz , 1MB L2 (see...

    Starting my Home Studio...?

As for mixers, I would like the best mixer for home recording under $750. It sounds like the Soundcraft M12 is the way to go. I need one that can allow me to group all the drum mics and send them out one line, and separately send out the guitar, keyboard, etc. (Is this called bussing?) This is...

    Starting my Home Studio...?

Thanks for all the input. I plan on recording at most 4 people here in my bedroom. I already own the mics, I just need a mixer, and something to record on. I owned an MBox, and like using PT. As for the mixer, I'm looking into the Soundcraft M12. I plan to be recording several tracks at once -...

    Starting my Home Studio...?

Really, l can't afford a $2000 G5. I'm looking for the cheapest computer I can get that will handle a 002 Rack & PT. The computer will be totally isolated, and only used for recording. I'm just not sure what's cheaper - having one built, or maybe going with something like a Dell. Would a $750...

    Starting my Home Studio...?

Thanks for the reply. The cheapest G5 from Apple is still $2000 :(. Where did you purchase a Digi 002R for $850? That's a great deal! Thanks.

    Starting my Home Studio...?

Thanks for all the input! If I were to have a PC built to handle the Digi 002 Rack, what should I look into having put in the PC? Processor, how much RAM, what OS should I go with, etc. I'm not much of a computer wiz so I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks!

    Starting my Home Studio...?

If I went with the computer & firewire Interface, I would probably look into a Digi 002 Rack. As for the computer, I'd either have one built for recording, or buy a Mac G5.

    Starting my Home Studio...?

Here's some products I'm interested in: 1. Active Wharfedale Diamond Pro 8.2 Monitors ($340) 2. Soundcraft M12 Mixer ($760) I already own two SM57s, SM58, Shure PE47L, AKG D112, cables, stands, and isolated headphones. I'm torn between using a stand alone multi-track recorder or a computer &...

Recording to Analog to Digital to Analog to Digital etc.?

Am I correct in thinking that most pro studios use both Analog and Digital recording to achieve a warmer, full sound? How could I do this in my home? What is used to do analog recording? How do they move between analog and digital? Thanks!

    $700 Mixer... Mackie or Soundcraft?

Thanks! Thanks for all the input guys! I'm a 17 year old who is just getting into recording. I play saxophone, drums, and a little keyboard. I've recorded out of my bedroom with an old radioshack mixer running into my computers soundcard, but now it's time to upgrade. I'm still not sure if...

    $700 Mixer... Mackie or Soundcraft?

I'm torn between Mackie or Soundcraft. I hear great things about Soundcrafts pre-amps, but all my buds use Mackie. (Including one who owns a pro studio.) I need a mixer for recording in my home. For the money, I can get a huge mackie CFX-20 mkII, or a smaller Soundcraft M12. Which to choose...

    Multi-Track Recorder... which to buy?

Sweet, I really think I'm going to go with the AW16G

    Multi-Track Recorder... which to buy?

I'm really leaning towards the AW16G. One of my dads friends has a little home studio where he too uses the AW16G. He records local bands there. Can you plug the AW16G into your computer, and dump files from it? Thanks.

    Cerwin Vegas as monitors...

I've got two passive 3way Cerwin Vegas speakers. With the correct amp, could I use these as monitors? Or is it the speakers, not the amp that matters? Or both? Thanks.

Are you talking about the 2488 or AW16G?

    Multi-Track Recorder... which to buy?

Does it only have 2 XLR inputs? What about the preamps? I've got 4 mics on drums, a few for guitars, DI bass, and vocals. Should I look into a mixer as well?
