Please Mix This - A Challenge (really, very challenging)

Oh, I forgot to give this thread the five stars it deserves. Who was the fuckhead that one-starred this thread, anyways?

Please Mix This - A Challenge (really, very challenging)

I'm hoping I'll have a chance to play with it this evening... not that it will be worth the wait to anyone that hears it! It will actually take me several hours just to make it sound like I took a few minutes... and my time has been so limited lately. I haven't had the chance to listen to all...

Well, SoundForge was no help. Nor was Batch Converter. Anybody got a solution for us "software challenged" folks?

Any way that you can re-encode them so we might get to use them? (I would ask for the .wav - but that's asking a lot) Hmm... will SoundForge convert them? This is kinda difficult when I'm trying to get work done... but this editing station keeps staring at me from across the room... :D

Although I could play the slide and steel parts okay... I can't seem to bring them into Vegas. Any ideas? It's the same problem that BeatDaddy has. I'm forcing my schedule to play with this for a few minutes... Hats off again to you, Chris Harris.... you are the monster!

I thought the wine was getting to me... I didn't see your post yet, Lt. - I thought maybe my computer couldn't read analog!

I just realized how much of Willie's influence you have in the vocals on this one.... very tasty, indeed. Maybe Willie will record it for you and make you a pile of cash.:D

I look forward to finding some time to play with this, too. I was kinda curious about it... which is good, cause I haven't picked up my Martin in at least two years (and not much before that... in recent history) and it hurt real bad to play along. My setup is at work, or I would've played...

    Compressor shopping

BTW, the RNC is a fairly transparent compressor... many others are not. It does not color the sound the way many other do... that may or may not be important to you. It also has the Really Nice compression setting, which is like three compressors stacked on top of each other. You can really...

    Compressor shopping

Considering what the RNC does (and does well) it would be a bargain at TWICE the price. The fact that the left and right channels are tied together is actually a BENEFIT. If you need more than one independent channel of compression... buy more than one. :D

    Hate the "Greats"

Five pages deep into this thread... pretty hard to add to the list~ I don't remember anyone saying that Neil Young sucks... well, he blows chunks. He can't sing... and it's hard to believe CSN brought him into the band to play LEAD guitar. At least Lynyrd Skynyrd tried to set his ass straight.:D

DV Camcorder Live recording without clipping audio??

You might want to check out the info on the Beachtek there, as well. I seem to remember that there might be some consumer mods needed to make them work right.

How many computer do you have ?

Four, here. Good thing I don't have a wife or kids! 1. Custom built twin 2.2 GHz Xeons; 1 Gig DDR Ram; 40 Gig system drive; twin 80 Gig project drives in RAID Array; 80 Gig export drive; nine cooling fans (there's more, but I won't bore you with the details) used for video and audio editing...

DV Camcorder Live recording without clipping audio??

Go to http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/ and do a search of their bbs. Lots of helpful advice there. No Dragon Cave, however.:D

Recording Vocals: The "inhale" sound.. What to do?

She's a little constricted, for sure. Perhaps the situation simply made it worse than she would normally sing. A good vocal coach can help her. She's got a good set of pipes. Good tone and ear. Good luck with her!

    E.Q. suggestions please

I would bring it in to digital with no EQ. Burn a couple of disks for backup, then play with the mix on a decent set of monitors to tweak. When you have a sound you're happy with... label that one "post EQ" and you'll know what that means. Some cool tunes and you got a decent voice. You just...
