    Sync'd Boss BR1600's

Here's the first thing I've attempted on my sync'd pair of Boss BR1600's up in the attic since I got the second one and sync'd them up. Usual one man band original thingie from me. What's Going Down :)

Probably, here's one with a bit more care taken. -13db level and no normalising. Left channel only, it's the only one on the denoiser that's working. It's been through a DA then through the SNR 2000 then back through another AD stage. :) https://download.yousendit.com/THE1UXVsT01GR0h2Wmc9PQ

I ran it through the denoiser. See if you notice any difference between this denoised one and your original? denoised :) This one's been normalized to 100%. You might want to match them?

Here you go mate. This is the noisiest synth I've got - an old 1977 mono analog Yamaha. The first passage is without the SNR2000 on and the second passage is with it on, just on it's default settings. It's a Soundclik 128 kb mp3 unfortunately. I did record it originally at 88.2/24. You might...

What would be the best way to record a 3 piece drum kit?

Google the Glyn Johns drum mic technique or recorderman technique. :)

Not just a noise gate Jeff. True that it's got an expander on it that works like gate but it also has a hiss removing filter circuit that works on the signal itself. It's quite effective in removing hiss from the actual signal. The expanders and the hiss filters can be switched in and out...

The cunning plan that was, ah, er, um, well wasn't

Thanks folks. I think all the elements of the reasons are here now. Overnight I too have come to the same conclusion that Tim has in that the sync will never be tight enough to split four drum mikes across a sync'd analog / digital system and not have it phasing, even on a wide format machine. I...

The cunning plan that was, ah, er, um, well wasn't

Ah MD, not a drum machine, actual drum kit with me playing it. That's the thing see. The cunning plan was to have four open mikes across the drum kit, two of which (kick & snare) were recorded on the 424 for analog and the other two (left & right overhead) on the digital BR1600's as I played...

If I recall, these things were the go for that... Behringer SNR2000 Stereo or dual mono single ended noise reduction unit. Long discontinued now. I've got one floating around that has only got one channel working. I'll fire it up and see if it tames the hiss on my old Yamaha CS-30 analog, it's...

The cunning plan that was, ah, er, um, well wasn't

Greetings friends. You may know that like a lot of you I have some digital kit as well in my home setup - 2 midi sync'd Boss BR1600's; Sort of obsolete now but they go quite well for what I do and after a lot of experimentation I've got a drum sound that I'm quite happy with using the Glyn...

Arrggghhh, there's hundreds of them. They're everywhere. And different types as well, C12's, C30's, C60's, Type I and Type II's. Even the mouser can't cope... What on earth can I do  But wait.... there is a cunning plan to deal with them
