some more than others. It may be necessary to put a little tape (try electrical tape) around the mechanism that is spinning to keep that part from vibrating around and putting some buzzes in yer tracks. I've run into it a few times close micing toms.

also.... effects like delay or whatever greatly influence playing dynamics. I'm always playing to the delay, or through it, or around it.. lol. SO ALWAYS track the effect during recording if the effect is a definite part of the sound.

with your ADAT setup I'd go with a mixer. I use a Mackie. I think it is a good board. The pre's sound way better than my DMP-2, which is like an audio buddy and the precursor to the DMP-3. Soundcraft would be a good choice too, although i don't have any first hand experience with them.
