yeah, i have a few other mics but have not gotten a chance to try them out in this fashion. i have a EV 635a, and a e906...either of those might work will as a substitute for one of the 57s i suppose.

yeah, i agree with that...but wouldn't you say a well maintained drum sounds better than a drum that is beat to hell? ever heard a tom with a warped rim or crack shell? all of those bags are in the same price range, and the pictures don't tell me anything. i'm just willing to bet they are not...

yeah, well this thing used to be much louder. one problem is: now i have to play it at full blast, so the amp is hissy. when the XLR output is hooked into a PA, the hiss is VERY LOUD. soundguys hate that.

oh, and i know that i don't really need a DI...but most sound guys like to see an XLR out on a "sampler" setup. and i always like avoiding a house DI box.

the volume might be too low? oh, i guess that's my problem...i don't really know how a direct box works. i was concerned that sending the 1/4" out of a direct box into the left channel headphone amp would be too hot a signal and perhaps damage the headphone amp...shows what i know.
