Will Naiants be a pain in the ass?

And how do I go about that? I am a total noob as far as acoustic treatment goes, Ive been reading Ethan's stuff and I understand main problems are bass in corners of rooms, comb filtering caused by reflections on paralell surfaces and flutter echo. I just dont know how to identify these in my...

Will Naiants be a pain in the ass?

I actually like the fact that they are omnis, but Im afraid they could accentuate my room issues. I mean, I AM going to treat my room, but some guy said they will still sound bad if my room is not completely covered with fiberglass

Will Naiants be a pain in the ass?

Ive been getting some equipment and experimenting for a while, and now I am looking for a pair of SDC to record drums and acoustic guitar as well. Im on a budget, while rode nt5, shure sm81 and oktava mk012 look really nice they are out of my range at the moment. I was looking at NAIANTs X-O...

    Mic placement for acoustic guitar

I found that a LDC positioned 2'' above the guitar pointing down at the sound hole is a very effective way to get a full guitar sound. It may not suit every style, but for finger picking or sounds mainly composed by acoustic guitar this is a good technique

    New Computer Build (PC)

Why dont you get one of those new Dell Alienware x51. It is actually very cheap. The best edition comes with intel core i7 3.4, 8Gb RAM, 1Tb and a nive NVIDIA graphic card I think for most multimedia aplications this computer is all you need.

How Do YOU Get A Great Acoustic Guitar Sound?

I understand this guy, it is frustrating when you're asking for something and people answer with something different, but after a while you understand they are right. Dont worry about effects or eq right now, really, just get good tracks. You may think they are good, but if you feel they are...

How Do YOU Get A Great Acoustic Guitar Sound?

I would say that your sound should rely on the recording and not in the mix. If you dont get a nice sounding recording, then there is no way to fix it later. First try to determine what you want from your guitar in that particular song. Is it a rythm poison-like guitar? Is it a fingerpicked...

    Drums acoustic treatment

Do you think that even with some acoustic treatment the sound out of omni mics will be too bad? Those Naiants look really sweet, everybody seems to love them, they're hand made and they are very cheap too. I just thought it would be beter to get a pair of those instead of some cheap chinese SDC

    Drums acoustic treatment

Well actually at this moment im recording with a single cardioid pattern LDC, but in a few weeks I will order a pair of NAIANTs X-O. I knoww they're omni and probably that will accentuate any room issues.

Making the best of what I have.

Well dynamics dont work that well as overheads, but if that is what you have I would suggest trying different position, try positioning them further apart from the kit so you get the whole picture and not just the cymbals. There is something I dont like about the guitar and bass, Ill hear it a...

Making the best of what I have.

Drums sound nice to me, perhaps I would try a more open sound. How are you miking them? I think the only thing those drums are lacking so me nice overheads to get the overall sound of the kit inside the room, since cymbals sound too thin and snare could be more dynamic if the OH is added...

    Absorption/diffuser combo panel

The fact that the diffusors are moveable makes me doubt it's effectiveness.

    Drums acoustic treatment

Ooooh now I understand :D thanks a lot Capt. I think I will go for that, more absorption area in the corners of my room sounds more reasonable and as you said, later on I can either attach them to make another gobo or take the covering off and make a proper bass trap with double thickness

    Drums acoustic treatment

I didnt understand your suggestion sorry :S youre saying I should or should not build those small bass traps? If not, what would you suggest me to do? Im aware I will have to build some more panels in the future, I just want some decent results for now. Thanks a lot Capt!

    Drums acoustic treatment

One more thing: oc703 is sold in packs of 6, so I had this in mind: Building 2 double gobos (2 panels attached together each, so they can be folded and stand on their own) This would leave me with 2 more panels, so I was thinking about cutting them in half and stacking them to have two 2'x2'...

    New Bedroom Studio Pictures

Hahaha we all make up some stuff! Well main use would be to place around instruments. So what other material could do it as absorber? I thing i will build some bass traps out of oc703 anyway and place them on the corners, but i will also need less dense fiber for my gobos. Any suggestions on...
