Rose in Paradise. A little country music.

A LIVE recording of Rose in Paradise, a cover of the Waylon Jennings song performed by The Cheyenne Band. This was reorded live, outside, at Archie's Breezeway in Ft. Pierce, Florida on April 2, 2011. Across the street was the Atlantic Ocean. It was a great environment for hanging out for the...

Old bands you have just discovered

"Gypsy", my favorite local Minneapolis band from the time period. They "commuted" between Minneapolis and LA (in a school bus painted red/white and blue with Micky Mouse painted on the back door) in the late '60's/early '70's, spending about half their time in each place. They were the house...

Old bands you have just discovered

Good stuff. I liked the Loving Spoonful back when they were popular and got more into them later on. It appears to me that this MIGHT be at least a partly live performance (vocals only maybe) rather than the normal lip sync'd performances of the day. It certainly sounds a bit different than...

    Country tune

Nice song, nice recording. Something strange is going on with the guitars though. I monitor though JBL 4328's on my desk. It sounds like one of the guitars keeps moving from one side to the other and back again. I suspect there is a delay on the right guitar that is panned hard left. I like...

Introduction to Multitrack Computer Interface Recording

I use the SPDIF out of my ART Digital MPA preamp on a regular basis. It goes into the SPDIF input on my Presonus Firestudio 2626 when I need to have more than 8 channels available.

I Gotta Get Rid of This Band....

The verb was my doing. Since they were playing outside (well almost outside), in an area only covered by tarps, there was no natural reverb. I have the red neck to prove they were outside. I was trying to get an old country feeling and used a small plate reverb setting. When I started...

I Gotta Get Rid of This Band....

This was recorded LIVE at Archie's Breezeway in Ft. Pierce, Fl, across the street from the Atlantic Ocean, yesterday afternoon. The song is an original written by the singer/lead guitar player. Feel free to comment. I Gotta Get Rid of This Band by Richard King on SoundCloud - Create, record...

Found some old tapes I recorded back in the early 60's

Great stuff. Thanks for posting. Who would have thunk that they would go from that to "The Time Has Come Today"? MANY years ago I did a location recording at the St. Paul Civic Center in St. Paul, Mn. The performer was Edwin Hawkins and lead singer and rhythm section. The Edwin Hawkins...

Found some old tapes I recorded back in the early 60's

Chambers Brothers? I assume that this was well before they became the pop-psych-rock-soul (I invented a new category) band that became famous? It would be interesting to hear some of that stuff. I'm doing some work with Billy Mure, a former NY studio guitar player. He's now 95 years old...

LIVE recording of The Escape Artist performing Ants Marching and Long Train Running..

I'm probably an "older fart" than you are. ;)

LIVE recording of The Escape Artist performing Ants Marching and Long Train Running..

Updated the mix. I think I went a bit heavy on the bass and may back that off a bit, but take a listen if you have another 8 minutes. ;) The panning is pretty much the same.

REAPER Monitor wet signal but record dry?

Thanks. Nothing fancy at all in the way of effects. None of the high priced brands. T-RackS Compression/limiting and mastering suite, VOS Epic Verb, ReaGate on kick. That's about it. It was recorded dry and effects added in mix. In FOH land I only added a bit of reverb and delay.

LIVE recording of The Escape Artist performing Ants Marching and Long Train Running..

I tend to pan as they are set up on the stage, with a bit wider pan on the drums than the other instruments. That puts the snare off center on the right and everything else pretty much where it was. With these guys the guitar was on the left of the stage and the violin slightly right of...

REAPER Monitor wet signal but record dry?

I ran front of house and recorded at the same time for these guys using a Presonus Firestudio, Presonus Digimax FS (total 15 channels), Reaper and the Presonus software that came with the boxes. After a bit of a rough start (no soundcheck) all went well the rest of the evening. This is a mix...

LIVE recording of The Escape Artist performing Ants Marching and Long Train Running..

A "medley" sort of.... This was recorded LIVE at the Riverside Cafe in Vero Beach, Fl. on Feb 19, 2011. I recorded the whole evening (3 sets) and am still playing with some of the mixes on the better songs. They return to the club tomorrow evening for another performance. Feel free to...

I need an Upgrade... Mixer VS Firestudio

I use a Presonus Digimax FS linked to a Firestudio for live on location recording. I also have an ART Digital MPA giving me two more inputs. So, for location work I have a total of 18 inputs. If I need more I have a second Firestudio that can be linked in, giving me a total of 26 inputs. So...

The "damage" has been done, is probably irreversible.. THE WORD FROM MAXELL

I sure hope not. Interesting read. Maybe there should be a market in analog tape futures. ;)
