    Post Your Analog Recordings Here...

Hey, I just got the masters back on a couple singles I produced and recorded for my band the Lesser Known Characters. I recorded it on a tascam 388. We pretty much stayed away from computers until mixing, where i just brought up the levels to the right volume. I Don't Need Nothin'.mp3 by...

An awesome estate find - finally, an RCA ribbon of my own!

Very cool, I picked up a EV ribbon mic from the 30s the same way, the RCA looks pretty sweet though. What kind of units are in the back there? \

sony tc-277-4 4-track reel to reel

I have a few vintage mics, a EV ribbon mic, a bunch of shure commandos (green bell shaped mic) and a few other random ones. They are fun but are all very muddy and dull sounding. but as long as you don't dump a bunch of money into them it sounds like fun. I have looked into mic repair and it can...

Tascam 388 Help/Suggestions.....For the Dreaded Nooooooob

I have the Han D Mag and its great! I figure it was worth the exta money for a good one, it would probably add to the value of the machine whenever you sold it. And I second on the RMG, it really sounds great and at 20 bux a reel it's worth it. I don't get why people mess around with NOS tape...

sony tc-277-4 4-track reel to reel

That's exactly what I use it for, that plus a cheap mackie and some decent mics can make some very full sounding recordings. It's definitely lo fi but that can really work sometimes. I heard John Mellencamps new acoustic album was recorded on a vintage 2 track tape machine while he was on tour...

sony tc-277-4 4-track reel to reel

Some of the old sony machines are pretty cool. I picked up a 2 track tc-777 for next to nothing and even though this is its 50th anniversary the thing seems to work with little issues. As far as multi tracking goes, mine has "sound on sound" capabilities so I imagine the newer model would.

Any experience with a SONY 777

Hey anyone have any Experience with a Sony TC777? I have found a good deal on one and would like to know more about it than the seller could provide. I believe the one I was looking at was made in 1961. It is basically a two track stereo tape recorder. There isn't too much out there. I have a...

    Tascam 388 recorded Album

Gear and stuff I had a decent amount of mic's to work with. For guitars I almost always used a 57 on the cab and then just went through the different mics I had to see what would work best for a room mic. Vocals I used only the MXL V67g. We experimented alot with natural delay because our room...
