I have been using n-track for a while now but have not been able to find a way to use busses. For example I would like to get a drum mix and then be able to increase or decrease the entire kit without changing all the faders. Is there a way to do this?

The cd thing does sound good. However, we did a mixing challenge before using mp3's and no one complained then.

In this months article of recording magazine they had an article on surround sound recording. In order to do this though, you would need a DVD burner, but I would put the players in a full circle with four (or five) mics pointing out from the center of the circle. Man that would sound good

The files should definetly be mono high quality mp3's. These can then get changed to wav files. I have a server but not the bandwidth to handle a lot of traffic, especially if we are downloading files.

If you could pass on just one short tip to someone else about recording what would it be? Example: Experiment with turning the distortion on a guitar amp down. It might actually make the recorded guitar tone more appealing.

It is possible for components to die like your harddrive and your cpu can fry if it overheats, but it is rare for a cpu to die. I know plenty of 486's with 66mhz cpus that are still going strong. I put my bet on your harddrives.

Laptops are awesome and I think there performance rivals and desktop computer (except custom made ones, but then again you can get custom made laptops) The only thing that sucks in the upgrading.
