How can I make my sound better?

With my Delta 66, when I direct in or mic in, the sound is usually very dull compared to the sound in the room (and this is a very small, dead room). Could this be because I need good preamps? Are the soundcard's preamps good? I use a line 6 ax2 amp with an Ibanez, and a Shure SM 57 to...

    Help with soundcard

I get 70 m/s latency.. (!) .. and when I mess with the buffer size, it still doesn't lower it. If any of you have suggestions, please help. This is really hurting my recordings. I have an m-audio delta 66 (omni studio breakout box) and I use it with Cubase 5.0

    Tech21

Nice! I'm deciding between XXX, 5150II, and a Bogner of some sort.

    Guitar amp poll

I have a Line 6 AX2, but I really want a Peavey 5150 II modded. The line 6 is great for recording, but not live......however, I will make it better by getting a cab with classic 30's. THEN, I will buy the Peavey when I have enough money. Pretty genius, eh?

FS: Fostex DMT-8vl (8-track Digital Recorder)

I have a cello, it is maybe a 3/4 size, and works well. It sells for 300 on ebay, I can get more to you in a bit about it.

FS: Fostex DMT-8vl (8-track Digital Recorder)

How about a Boss GT-3? It is in perfect working condition with the plug, not sure if I can find the manual but it is pretty self explanatory. It really does have some great sounds in it, but I have a Line 6 AX2 amp, with a built in POD, so I don't need it anymore. I have been looking for a...

    half size stand up bass

I'm selling a half size stand up bass. I will give you more information later, but what I know right now is that I repaired it, and have gone to stores, and they are telling me to sell it for 700 dollars. It sounds good, and is in good condition, BUT it used to belong to a school, so it has...

I agree about PRS, Gibson, and Fender going downhill over time, but then again, most guitars do, don't they?

    emg vs. seymour duncan?

He is right about the Lawrence pickups to a certain extent.......a very certain extent. The only non-thin Lawrence pickup IMO is the L500, and it is amazing. Get an L500, otherwise, don't get a Lawrence at all, IMO they sound very thin (with the exception of the single coils). Also they...

Notebook recording sounds like a tape!

I don't know much about this, but make sure the mic isn't touching anything and resonating because of it. Does this happen only for piano or for other things to?

Aha! j/k that's probably not the problem

    emg vs. seymour duncan?

For the type of music you are playing, it soundslike the 81 is the way to go. By the way, I agree with that guy about the Pearly Gates being a really good pickup and all, but the EMG would be your best bet. For some reason, I don't like Dimarzios. They sound too synthy to me, but everyone...
