    Recording Electric guitar...

I'd guess its either your mic or the soundblaster card. If different mic placement doesn't do it for you, try upgrading one of these.

    Which is better?

Typically, drums are recorded with a stereo pair overhead & mono close mics to accentuate the kick, snare, toms or hihat. Electric guitars are usually mono, but often recorded with more than one mic. Bass is usually mono & often a mix of direct & miced signals are used. Acoustic instruments...

aha! did you say you were recording straight to your sounblaster card? Are you going through a mixer or mic pre first?

Do you like the sound you are getting from the amp? Which cheap condensor mic are you using?

    Is this a good idea?

I'm not crazy about the v67 or 603 on my guitar amp. I much prefer my B3 or a 57. I think the B1 would be your better choice, or even better the b3 since you'd have multiple patterns. I also hear a lot of people recommend the beyer m88 for a good all purpose mic. Maybe someone who owns one...

Anyone tried the new guitar cab mic

do a search here-there's been a good bit of discussion about that mic. I believe it's good on toms too.

    Teach Me About Delay

I don't know about the others, but Vegas allows you to set an envelope for your effects sends to raise & lower the level during the song. One thing I like to do with a vocal delay sometimes is roll off the highs & the lows. It sits in the mix better sometimes like this.

    quality dynamic mic

I only wish I meant Speck. Seck is a British company from the 80's that got bought out by Soundcraft. I recently bought an 18 channel 8 buss Seck mixer. Definitelly a step up from my Behringer, but no Speck. I think Han has (or had) one as well unless I am confusing him with someone else...

    quality dynamic mic

You know, this is something I didn't think to mention. I don't have any pres you'd consider REAL GOOD as of yet. I have a DMP-3, a Jomeek VC3Q, and my Seck mixer. None are too shabby, but none are REAL GOOD. Thanks to all for the responses. It seems everyone has their favorite, but they're...

    quality dynamic mic

The next mic I buy I want to be a good dynamic mic. I currently have 2 mxl v67, sp b3, 2 mxl 603s, beta 52, 2 ecm8000, 4 sm57's. I want a good all purpose mic for vocals (rock & rap) and drums & instruments as well that has a different flavor than the 57's. I am considering re-20, 441, sm-7...

    action vs. bow

No, its a deArmond semi hollow archtop with a tune o matic bridge. Raising the action is easy on the tune o matic. I just wanted to know if I needed to mess with the neck any first. Thanks.

    action vs. bow

So you're saying all guitars should be set up with the neck as straight as possible?

    action vs. bow

I recently had a new bridge put on my guitar. The tech straightened out some bow in the neck & lowered the action on it. I'm not crazy about the new setup. What's the difference between putting more bow in the neck & raising the action (PRACTICAL difference that is-yes I know what each of...

    Guitar Stacks

keep in mind the tone you get from a stack will be different than a small combo. I've always preferred 1 12" myself even for the heavy distorted stuff. Also, I think the monitor mix on stage in a small club sounds better when the amps are miced at a lower volume & put in the monitors than when...

which mic will give me the most use?

I prefer the b-3 to the 57 on my guitar amp & theres a good chance you'll like it better than the 57 or the 603 on vocals.

    Recording perfect vocals

I'm with Aaron-especially numbers 2 and 3. Try to deaden your recording space or sing under a blanket. Try to find a 'sweet spot' as far as the proximity effect goes. Theres also the trick mentioned on this board before where you (if I am remembering right) make a copy of the vocal track, cut...
