No, we already have a drum machine, some soft synths & a sequencer. We're primarily looking for a controller for these, but if we can get one with some good sounds as well-bonus!
A friend of mine is about to throw down 300 bucks on a Casio. While I have no keyboard experience whatsoever, I'm thinking there's got to be something better than Casio in this price range. It is to be used primarily as a midi controller for soft synths & a drum machine, but it would be nice...
Leo Nocentelli (the Meters) definitely tops my list. If you've ever seen him live, you know what I mean.
Danny Gatton for sure-I wish I'd have seen him.
Also David Hidalgo, C.C. Adcock, Robbie Robertson, Keller Williams, and that dude from Concrete Blonde to name a few more.
Does this mean they have more bang? I haven't noticed a significant price difference between the two. I was more interested how they compare in regards to speed of data transfer, latency, driver issues, limitations, etc. At this time, I have no need to cross platforms or use multiple pc's...
I am looking at options for a new 24/96 front end with at least 8 balanced analog in/outs. What are the differences/advantages/disadvantages of going with a firewire system as opposed to a PCI based system (aside from the obvious laptop advantage-I have a desktop)? Aside from Echo, M-audio...
I own both (actually a B3, not B1), but I haven't used either on many different sources yet. Through my Joemeek pre, I prefer the B3 for acoustic gtr and our lead singer's voice, and the v67 for my voice. It depends on the flavor you want. I also like the B3 on my guitar amp.
I'm just getting started with this so it ain't much:
2 MXL V67
1 SP B3
4 SM57
On my 'soon to purchase' list:
2 ECM8000
2 MXL 603s or SP C4
1 ATM25 or Beta 52
Wish List:
LD tube condensor (still undecided)
RE-20
Beyer ribbon mic
I'm no expert, but I don't think many here are recording vocals with sd condensors. SM57's & 58's aren't bad vocal mics, though. However, since the B1 & v67 are both under $100, I think you'll hear a big difference in stepping up to one of these. Especially since you will be using inexpensive...
Bought the cd yesterday-Vernon Reid & DJ Logic. Great music, but the recording sounds like crap. They had it limited to the nth degree. I've heard a lot of overcompressed music lately, but this one was beyond overcompressed. It is almost unlistenable. Opened up in cool edit it looks like a...
Has anything been announced concerning the release date & price of the C4? I'm considering a pair of ECM8000's or 603S's, but I'd hate to buy right before C4 comes out & kicks their ass.
I would say what you need for mics is a large diaphragm condenser for vocals, etc., 2 small diaphragm condensers for drum overheads & acoustic instruments, and a kick drum mic. Use your 57's & 58's for guitar, snare & toms. Probably wouldn't hurt to get a 2 channel mic pre as well. For the...
Thanks chessparov. The symptoms I am describing happen whether or not anything is plugged into the Joemeek. That was my first thought too. I will try & email Alan.
I have a VC3Q. When the input gain is raised above 20 or so, it seems to introduce quite a bit of noise, and when you engage the compressor it causes clicks & pops. At lower input levels, this is not a problem. I know this isn't the most expensive pre, but is this a normal limitation for the...
I had the 15 pedal disease too, until I bought my Line6 Flextone. Great amp & now only one pedal that connects to the amp with a cat5-no batteries or wall wart. Best thing I ever did guitar-wise.
Thanks, littledog & alan. Between your replies & the manual that came with the mic, I think all my questions are answered. Just got the mic in today. Can't wait to get home & try it out!:D
We are getting ready to record guitar & vocal tracks at an old Charleston house with plaster walls & hardwood floor & I want to be able to pick up the 'live' quality of the surroundings. This gave me a good excuse to buy the B-3 I've had my eye on. A few questions: Recording vocals with the...
The drums didn't bother me any. I think they work fine in the context of the song. I think overall it sounds much better than the last version of this I listened to. The vox echos do get in the way, but before you get rid of them entirely, try panning them to one side or the other. That...
If you are or you know any students, teachers or school employees, you can get great educational discounts on SF software. I bought Vegas 3.0 for $155 brand new.
