Marshall AVT-20 -vs- Blues Cube 60

I'm trying to decide between these two amps. I was pretty sure I wanted the Blues Cube until I read about the speaker emulation line out on the AVT-20. I plan to record extensively with this amp, so I need an amp that would be best for this purpose. Does anyone have any recording experience...

New song for critique. "The Ballad of Screwing Brian's Sister"

That recording sounds great. Really great. I bet you spent more than 30 minutes in a closet on it, and that level of dedication shows. I still like mine better though. If I could get that level of recording quality in 30 minutes or less, I'd be all over it.

Thanks ya couple of dicks... BTW HangDawg, in addition to being a dick, you also share my birthday. Give me a link to some of your stuff. I'd like to hear it. Keepin' it real... -The MIke

New song for critique. "The Ballad of Screwing Brian's Sister"

A lot of you really hated the last song I released, so I decided to take it down several notches and record a sweet ballad this time. It's still kind of an alternative country release, but I think it has something for everyone. I hope you love it as much as I loved recording it. It's a true...

New alt. country recording from Texas on soundclick

"Sounds like Hank Williams Jr. in a dumpster!" I love that. Probably my all-time favorite comment actually. OK, the recording sucks. I only give about half a shit, but I would like to know what would make it better outside of an entirely new band playing a completely different song. We are...

New alt. country recording from Texas on soundclick

Newest recording is called A Celebration of Me (The Mike) Recorded with a Fostex VF-160, Shure 57, Yamaha Bass, Route 101 Solimar, Dobro metal body resonator, Hohner marine band, yamaha DD-55, and a bunch of other crap I can't remember. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/8/mikejakballamusic.htm...

Getting a drum loop from cd onto your fostex

Don't feel bad, I came here tonight for exactly the same reason. I am trying to burn a drum loop from acid onto a CD and upload it into my Fostex-VF160 and I have not been able to make it work yet. Someone please help? I don't know what I am doing wrong. One of the best drum solutions I have...

    New demos (Alt. Country/Rock)

Bare Jr. I don't know but look forward to learning more about. No offense taken at all. I totally respect the fact that not everyone is going to like what I do. Hell, I don't like it very much myself to be completely honest. I think my voice is for shit, but it is what it is and for some reason...

    New demos (Alt. Country/Rock)

Thanks for the feedback. I'd like to hear the band you mentioned but couldn't find anything about them? The new song is up to #13 today on the alt.country charts so I guess a couple of people must have liked it. It could have been better, but it's just a demo I wrote, produced, performed, and...

    New demos (Alt. Country/Rock)

These were recorded on a fostex vf-160. They are not finished products, just simple mp3 demos. The real release won't be for another year or so. Grab a Coors and a bucket of chicken and come listen (if you dare): http://www.soundclick.com/bands/8/mikejakballamusic.htm

    Simultaneous recording with US122/Cubasis Program?

I had the hardest time figuring out how to do that and didn't really get much help from the people here. However.... I did figure out that it can be done so don't lose hope. I thought Cubasis was the biggest pile of crap I had ever seen until I learned how to use it. Now I think it's pretty...

    New to cubasis

The manual actually is on the Tascam US-122 installation CD, but it is not worth a SHIT and does very little to help troubleshoot what are obviously pretty common problems for newbies. It has been my experience that if you beg long enough, somebody here might actually be willing to help you. I...

How is the Cubasis learning curve?

In my opinion it is not that easy. Take this coming from somebody with absolutely no computer recording experience. I'm sure it's not that bad for someone who has a clue what they are doing. The US-122 is great once you get it going though. I don't see how you can beat it for the price. I just...

    do your ears ring 24-7?

My ears never stop ringing. It's been this way for as long as I can remember, and to be honest I can't imagine what it must be like for them to not ring. Because I don't know any different, it really doesn't bother me. I would love to know what it is like to hear normally though. I bet it's...

    Hardware drum machine or software?

Yes, I know a real kit and a live drummer would be better! I love and respect all you drummers, but when you ain't around, which is the better way to go these days? I have an old Boss DR-550mkII I used to use with a Tascam porta studio, but I have since grown up and am now learning computer...

How to record two tracks at same time

Thanks very much to both of you! I am not there yet, but this gives me something to go on. Incidentally, I was finally able to get both to record, but it was still on a single track. I was very impressed with the sound quality though. My next stupid question..... How do I arm two inputs...

How to record two tracks at same time

OK. Let me try to be more detailed... I can't get two tracks highlighted. When one is armed and ready to go, I can not arm the second track. The problem is that I can't enable two tracks to record at the same time. Basically all I can do is record one track, then go back and record another...

    Sorry for another US-122 thread

If there is, I haven't been able to find it. It's Cubasis, so I think the idea of including it with the 122 is to get you hooked and sell you the more expensive Cubase later. Not including a manual doesn't help though because now I have no idea how good Cubase may actually be. It's just too...

    Sorry for another US-122 thread

I haven't heard of anything like that. I think it's probably a pretty good product, just has a few bugs on certain systems that need to be worked out. My only real complaint is the lack of an included manual with Cubasis. For someone with no computer recording experience going in, it has...

    Tascam US-122 HELP ME PLEASE?

It's called Service Pack 1 or something like that and I downloaded it off of the Microsoft web page. It's a pretty big file, took me about 90 minutes to download using dial up.
