Last friday I attended one of the free mixdown courses at SAE, I'm actually thinking of attending a whole study there for Audio Engineering....

I used to have only a pillow, no I've just moved to a smaller sized blanket... I actually use 2 bass drums, so I've got 1 big blanket and trimed it in half so I have the exact 2 things inside the drum....

Yeah. They won't be needed for complete overheads like toms and snare. Those will be as much as possible cut out of the mix and even the I'll make that sure in the mic placement. I can say that on the left it should get the following cymbals: 17", 18" crash & Mini Chinese 12" richt mic 18" 16"...

Is it normal that the (for example) a pair of MXL 603 Matched pair are 320 euro's and an unmachted pair 199 euro? I'm just really curious I've got a budget of 400 euro's to spent on a overhead or a "set" of overheads. And if I'd buy the 199 euro couple I have some extra to invest in another...

I hate all Zildjians :) Sabian all the way :P. Sabian AAX stage hats 14" or for some louder application Sabian AAX-celerator hats :) Also I like the sound of the AA Metal-X series 14"..but that one I don't have..2 hats is enough for me.

Thanks..well offcourse I want to try and find my own sound..but I really like it to go in that direction. And now that you say..offcourse a bass-sound should fit with it..and since the Mudvayne's bass player has a very particular style so it will be kinda hard.. On my bass drum I use a AKG D112...
