Testing a pair of new mics I just bought.

That's OK. The guy that wrote and sang "Is it OK" was one of the actors in the TV show "ER" during the earlier seasons. Just in case you're interested, his name was Paul McCrane.

Testing a pair of new mics I just bought.

Hi Tim, You've made that comment about my vocals before. Big compliment as Gates is a big influence on my vocal style along with C. Cross, M. Franks, JT, etc. I use Event 20/20s as my monitors but I'm almost sure that does not answer your question. I still have a lot to learn with my AKAI - I...

Testing a pair of new mics I just bought.

I was referring to the song, "Is it OK" as the 70s song, from the movie "Fame."

No EQ at all. Just a little reverb and delay.

Testing a pair of new mics I just bought.

Oops. I guess they are omnis. Was too excited, didn't use my head but my ears told me they sounded good. Thanks. The Beatles lyrics were the best. Mine is a cover of a counterpoint to Lennon/McCartney's HTE. Not too bad though.

Thank you very much. How about $20 a piece? www.naiant.com

Testing a pair of new mics I just bought.

They are the naiant MSH-1A on the acoustic guitar. Very affordable. Mics (xy) around soundhole of Taylor 03 714ce summer strummer to FMR RNP and RNC to AKAI DPS 16. Added a touch of reverb and delay in the mix. Let me know what you guys think. It's the one called "Is it OK?"...

    Best RODE for vocals

Wow! This is one of those threads that resurrects every now and then. My NTK has yet to give me a reason to look for other mics so it is still my favorite. Admittedly, my recordings are nowhere near professional quality but they're good enough to draw compliments from other newbs and amateurs.

    Acoustic Kravitz?

Thanks guys. Will mess around with the EQ and reverb on the rhythms as suggested. I'll have to listen to the Lenny's original so I can pick out the bass and modify it if needed to fit the acoustic version. Chris, What is the desired result for double tracking the vocals? I'll try it and see.

    Acoustic Kravitz?

First song called, "It Ain't Over." Man, don't know bout this one. Difficult vocals. May need to just totally scrap it and forget about it. Let me know what you guys think. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=248672

    Too much wah?

Thanks Bigbubba and RAMI. Really appreciate the compliments. Sometimes I think that it won't be too bad if I get fired at work so I can stay home and record all day. :)

    Too much wah?

Thanks Gary. Can't seem to hear the high pitched tone you're referring to. Do you think it is a technical problem or is it in the recording somewhere?

    Too much wah?

I have those two......what's missing is natural talent. But that's never stopped me before so I'll keep trying.

Holy crap Gorty!! I hope someday I'll learn to play like you. I am not worthy.

    Too much wah?

Dogman, You certainly have the best avatar I have ever seen. Didn't you use to have a yellow bus or something? I used an NTK for the vox through RNC and RNP into an AKAI DPS 16. That's pretty much it. Seether was an experiment with 2 OD pedals and different settings on an EQ pedal. All mic'd...

    Too much wah?

You guys are too kind. Really appreciate the compliments. hrwmusic, Will try to add a little bit more wah as you recommended. Gorty, Will check out your hyperactive wahwah when I get home. Can't from work. Thanks again.

    Too much wah?

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=248672 It's the second song called Milky Way. Hate to say it but this is a rather boring acoustic rendition of the 80s song. Nothing special at all. I just bought a wah and wanted to add it to this song. It's somewhere around the middle and...

Critique OD/Dist rhythm tones at bedroom level

Thanks ido1957. I was especially working on the first 2 rhythm tones. The lead (if I can even call it that) was just for fun but I managed to do harmonics at the end. Woo hoo! :D I can understand how it would be easier to critique if it was in the mix. I'll try it next time.

Critique OD/Dist rhythm tones at bedroom level

The philosophy is to dazzle the ego with pro gear to compensate for the absence of talent. :D Feast for your eyes. http://www.sage97.photosite.com/guitars/Chapter2/Picture_042_10.html http://www.sage97.photosite.com/guitars/Chapter3/DSC00994_2.html

Critique OD/Dist rhythm tones at bedroom level

PRS Cu 24 into a Tonecore Ubermetal pedal into a Cornford 6 watt amp. Mic'd with a SM57 and one SP C4 into FMR RNP & RNC. I wish there were more comments on the distortion. I'll keep practicing!
