Is the problem audible, or are you only seeing it on the meter?

Assuming they're all 1/4" tapes, the only things should be a problem on playback are 1) whether they're quarter-track or half-track recordings, and 2) some of the formulas may have sticky shed problems by now.

I think people will be less nutty about NOS when current manufacturers can instill confidence in the consumer (and especially industry professionals) that the tape will be reasonably reliable from one reel to the next.
