Cha La Head Cha La - Glam rock ft. VHS and Greg_L

The instrumental sounds just like the original song, but the vocals are really weird. I dont think it was poorly recorded, maybe its the performance that I just cant find exciting. The drums sound like they were programed. I absolutely hate this gated reverb snare sound. But I guess you guys...

60's style song, Fun with Ric.

The drums in the 60's didnt sound hi-fi, but they sounded good. Your drums sounds weird. It lacks low end to me. I dont mind hearing the kick drum perfectly, but you should at least try to capture the low end of the drum kit, really. The song is cool, though...keep trying, man.

    New song

Even though it sounds weird, I liked the mix like this. I dunno what your intentions are with this...what vibe you've tried to capture, but I liked it, haha.

    Is this recording loud enough?

sweet guitar skills. forget about this loudness thing you got going on, this mix is fine, actually I think its maybe a little bit loud, but there is definately no need for more gain on this.

    Thoughts on new recording

hey man, cool song. I just think the bass is loud, maybe if you lower it a bit, you wont be annoyed by it, haha. I think the song is good, but the loud bass is making the mix sound boomy and muddy. Thats my 5 cents on it.

    Brazilian Indie Rock band.

Hi, guys. This is a session from a collective which I work. We basically record bands from around town and upload the performances to Youtube so they have a decent quality material to share with their fans and stuff. We also organize some gigs for those bands to play in. Anyway, these guys...

    All analog recording

This is freaking awesome. It sounds very good. Very good. The song is great and everything sounds perfect to me. I dont care for the kick drum, it sounds like a rock kick drum to me. I like it like that. I'm really jealous of you...I wish I could learn how to record analog and mix too. Anyway...

    Ultra newbie, any tips? [shoegaze/indie/alt]

If you could bring the drums up, I dont care for the fucking loud guitars. I enjoy it very much. But your drums are too far away in the mix, man! I acutally like dry vocals, too, but this reminds me of The Smiths or something similar. I personally dont care for the reverb thing. But, again...

    Ready to go - Mix

I like the vocals on this. I normally dont like EDM vocals...but I think you achieved a kinda "lo-fi" quality to it that sounds really good to my ears. Now...this bass thing is really loud. I would lower it a lot and bring the rest a bit up. I hope I helped!

    [Indie] - In your Dreams

I can see that this track is really oriented by this acoustic guitar, but I think maybe it is a little too much proeminent. I'd try to lower just a tiny bit. The vocals are really cool and the rest of the mix is really fine for me.

Is the new mix an improvement?

This song is really cool and the remix version sounds really professional to me. I think you got the eq right this time. Your vocals towards the end reminds me of Graham Coxon. A+ to this mix, man!

Doubt about limiter and mastering tracks at home.

Well, I finally figured out what to do to get the mixes louder without that annoying compression effect. I watched a video that Joe Gilder from Home Studio Corner made about using limiters and basically he raised the gain knob instead of the threshold. He raised it until he found a good volume...

Recording in a large cement room

I would love to hear that room in your recordings. But if you dont want to hear anything of the room, try to dampen it as most as you can and use dynamic mics as most as possible. For overheads, I find workind with SDC mics really annoying...but if you like those...it wouldnt hurt to try to...

Doubt about limiter and mastering tracks at home.

But do you think that I can achieve the same level of loudness without squashing up the mix as I think it is?

Doubt about limiter and mastering tracks at home.

No, actually I dont! The only difference between the mixes are how the threshold level of the limiter is set. I have compressors on some parts of the drums...like kick, snare and I do compressed the bass too. But that's about it.

Doubt about limiter and mastering tracks at home.

Well that surely wasnt as loud as I thought, especially the "Not So Loud" one. Anyway, the "Loud as Hell"...I still cant get my head around the fact that I hear some kind of weird compression happening. Its driving me crazy because I really dont know where it comes from.

I'm sorry, RAMI. Try it now, please, I just changed some settings.

Doubt about limiter and mastering tracks at home.

Did any of you guys heard my mixes? I will explain everything again. The "Loud as Hell" one is according to the metering of Studio One's master fader hitting like -5.5dB RMS. And that to me sounds horrible, because I can hear some kind of weird compression effect that makes my mix squashed. The...

Doubt about limiter and mastering tracks at home.

That ridiculous chart I posted once was from a site that seems pretty good. I just posted as a source of comparison and not to prove myself or anything. Unfortonately that is the only reference I got and I understand its pretty limited. But anyway, did you took a listen to my mix? Have you...

Doubt about limiter and mastering tracks at home.

Ok, I understand you consider this a very loud level. I do too, I usually prefer when they are at a lower RMS level. The "Not So Loud" mix is hitting -7.5dB RMS, the "Loud as Hell" one is probably hitting -5dB or so... My doubt basically was, can an average home recording guy master songs as...
