    Help with J-Station

Yeah, I've already sent mail to johnson tech support, but haven't gotten an answer yet. I was hoping someone else had worked through a similar problem. If anyone else has any experience with this please let me know!

    Help with J-Station

Please help me! I recently bought a J-Station and it's been cool. However, I just tried to update to the newest software using the J-Updater app and I get this: Trying to connect to the J-Station Connected to the J-Station Clearing the display Target initialized Starting the download Erase is...

    my 1st attempt

This is a nicely constructed song, but there are some technical issues. The levels are very low in much of the song. You're not using all of the "space" available to you in each track (or in the total mix) which is contributing to the "lack of sparkle". Watch the levels when you playback your...

    Is this mix worthy?

This is a nice effort. Here are some suggestions. Everything (the vocals and the lead guitar) seem to get lost behind the rhythm guitar. Also, there is no much reverb on the lead in some places that it sounds "distant". Also, the vocals just sound too plain. My 2c. -Steve

    ok, here we go.

Wow, punk en espanol. I thought the guitar intro was a little odd, but I thought the vocals were strong (even though I don't understand them). The bass kicks ass. Nice work.

    New Acoustic song

Sounds really good overall. I'm not sure exactly what to suggest, but I thought the vocals sounded a bit "dry". Also, at the end of the song there is some dead-air with a really bad electrical hum. You might want to silence that. Keep it up!

    Guitar Recording Software...

I've been using Guitar Trax Pro from Cakewalk. It's really nice. Quality is good and it's designed for guitar players. I found learning the interface to be very natural, and it has nice goodies like a decent guitar amp modeler built in. Plus, you have a nice upgrade path to Sonar if you need...

    Setting up a studio

I bought a Behringer 1604 mixer to go with my home studio. It seems to work great.. The 802A also looks like a nice small mixer and would probably do well for acting as an intermiary to your sound card. BTW, for demos almost any sound card will do. Most current sound cards can record at...

Whats the fastest computer out there

What's the fastest computer out there? I work at Sun Microsystems, and we make some very fast computers. The Sun Fire 15k can hold up to 106 processors. http://www.sun.com/servers/highend/sunfire15k/ However, with a fully loaded price of $4 million it might be out of your price range. :-)...

    amp simulators

For anyone that's interested, here's the result of my first few hours fiddling around with my new J-Station. I think it sounds pretty good for a first try! You can check out a thirty second snippet here: http://www.xalien.com/tunes/Crunchy.mp3 -Steve

    amp simulators

J-Station I just bought a J-Station and so far I'm impressed. I played with the JStation and the POD side-by-side at the store. The POD had some nice sounds, but it wasn't a clear winner. Given that the POD was twice the price and lacked a digital output I opted for the the J-Station. I got...

Mac OS X Native Multitrack Recording

Can anyone suggest a good, inexpensive, Mac OS X native piece of multi-track recording software? It doesn't have to have all the bells and whistles. Just the basics to lay down 4-8 tracks and do basic editing. This software would primarily used on a "Titanium" laptop. Thanks, -Steve

    Ever have your guitar stolen?

Had my 1988 Charvel Model 6 stolen from my dorm room freshman year of college. Man, I loved that guitar. When I went to replace it I found that Charvel had switched to producing CRAP, so I bought an Ibanez instead. The Ibanez was always a decent guitar, but I always missed that Charvel. I...

    Computer processor question

While it might be possible to do some digital sound manipulation on your current hardware (heck, I had a nice sound editor on my 16 mhz Mac) you'll be in for a lot of pain. You can get so much now for just a few hundred bucks it's not worth screwing around trying to upgrade. As the low-end...

    Driving with the top down

Hey Charva and Langly, Thanks for listening. As for the timing issues, I think those are with the guitar, not the drums. I think there are a couple of places where the guitar gets off beat in the verse, I'll need to re-record those. The drum track is actually a set of "loops", so each...

    Driving with the top down

Hi Guys, OK, this is my second attempt posting to this forum. This is another instrumental rock song (with an acoustic intro this time). Now, go ahead and rip me apart. I need the advice! Comments on composition, performance, or mix are all appreciated...

    Here's one when sober...

You Almost Lost Me OK, I started listening and I coudn't tell where this was going. I like the sound, but it seemed to be just wandering. Then the lead guitar came in, and I got it! You might want to have the guitar enter a little earlier to avoid losing people (some of us have short...
