I listened and downloaded some of the sample clips in the net and it turns out that X/Y is less wider than the other stereo techniques. I normally use spaced pair if I need wider stereo sounds.

Sound Clip Spaced pair, at 12th fret and at the bridge about 12~14" away, hard panned both left and right.

I'm planning to buy the SM87A for live performance. I never tried this piece but to what I read this is great for vocals and an upgrade to 58s. I'm just wondering how's the quality for studio. I have 58 but I don't like using for recording. Please share your thought...thanks!

I have the Phonic HB and no problem with drivers. You should know the turn on sequence of your PC and Phonic.

OK... simple get a AUDIO/VIDEO SELECTOR/SWITCH. I use it my studio with 3 selector. 1-PC output, 2-Mixer Monitor, 3-Mixer Main out.

For very low self noise, check the pair of Rode NT1A only below $600, and 5dB self noise!

I have mainboard fanless design which you can turn on through remote control the noise off feature but still the noise is audible, so I use my notebook instead.
