I listened and downloaded some of the sample clips in the net and it turns out that X/Y is less wider than the other stereo techniques. I normally use spaced pair if I need wider stereo sounds.
I'm planning to buy the SM87A for live performance. I never tried this piece but to what I read this is great for vocals and an upgrade to 58s.
I'm just wondering how's the quality for studio. I have 58 but I don't like using for recording.

I have mainboard fanless design which you can turn on through remote control the noise off feature but still the noise is audible, so I use my notebook instead.
