My first recording of another band.....

I think you should A/B this with the original recording to get closer. It's missing low mids/low energy, the guitar is pretty loud in the beginning and for the solo, and while the mix is missing low mids, it's still cloudy. I wish I could be more specific - the mix just hits me as a bit...

    It's been a while

Yeah, anything I'd have to offer would be of a taste nature. I do think the snare could come down a couple of db and still do it's job without making me blink at high volumes. This is super fucking sweet. One of the few songs I hear for free on the internet that I played again just for...

    Led Zeppelin cover song

Obviously, it sounds phenomenal. It's such a spot on cover that it makes me wonder why somebody would bother doing it unless they were a tribute band!

    odd artifact?

Do you hear it on different speakers? Like....monitors, headphones and car? I think you have a blown tweeter and your life is over.

    Critique for rock mix

Vocals are solid, and you've mixed the elements you have pretty well. I don't know exactly how to describe my criticism, except to say that for a "rock" mix, a lot of the elements sound fake. The drums sound fake, even the guitars sound fake, which is weird. Really cool song. I guess it's...

    odd artifact?

I don't hear it (on monitors) but if it's really high, I wouldn't. However, when I've run across similar issues in the past, it's usually some kind of bizarre phase issue. Try nudging one of the overhead tracks a few ms to the right or something and see if it goes away. I'm 46. My hearing...

    Led Zeppelin cover song

    Nice home recording, lol

Country Rock - is the mix ok?

Low end sounds squished to death. Like it's pumping.

Need help pointing out any flaws because it ain't easy :D

Enjoyed it. I probably wouldn't have noticed anything about the kick on a casual listen, but of course after reading the comments...yeah, it's clicky...which just seems a bit off for the genre. It's not a deal-breaker at all. Nice tune, man.

    Feedback required - Mixing Song

I think the vocal sits perfectly. It's audible without being too overpowering, it's not harsh, it's not lost in reverb...perfectly competent vocal mix. My ears aren't what they used to be...I almost want the harmony vocal parts louder, but then again, this is not really my genre. The only...

CONTEST THREAD - who is worthy?

Nice! Major to minor always takes a fair amount of cheese out. Good call, good recording/performance. Way to go, man.

To Wah or not to Wah......

I skipped reading everything. I would just like to say that there can never be too much wah. It's my favorite guitar sound, and I rarely get to use it in my depressing singer/songwriter for hillbillies world. This comment will make you hate me, but your vocal reminds me of weird Al. Not just...

    1st try at this

That's pretty fucking funny. I used to play with a bass player who started recording our live tracks, and the result was similarly lop-sided. It's the main reason I started trying to learn how to record. Funny thing is, that bass player is now the soundman for what's left of my old band. I'm...

CONTEST THREAD - who is worthy?

I'm pretty sure you and dobro were the only mods I ever liked. I'm glad y'all are both still up here kicking up dust. Sorry I derailed this.

CONTEST THREAD - who is worthy?

lmfao...I just saw the edit to the first post of this thread. I see now that the song chosen is not the one I posted, so ignore it, please. Also, please ignore all the negative things I said about "Brown Eyed Girl" and have fun recording it! (but I did sincerely appreciate the listens! :D )

A song inspired by Yes /pink floyd

Some drum clams...or just timing problems somewhere. You've definitely mastered a mid 1960's psychedelic recording style. Some of the snare rolls sound distorted when the kick drum hits, so I'm not sure what's causing that, but I thought I'd mention that it's noticeable.

    1st try at this

The bass is definitely out of balance with the other elements. It dominates the mix, but it's a really nice sounding (heavily compressed) bass sound. I can barely hear a kick drum. But I totally agree with gecko's ears - i.e., the individual elements are recorded really well. Really nice...

CONTEST THREAD - who is worthy?

Good to see you, man I actually knew that, and I used a de-esser, and it killed a lot of the life of the track, so I said to myself, "Chris, Dobro can't possibly be alive to bitch about your sibilance, so don't fuck with it." Well, I was wrong. So just for you, I went through and manually...

    Another re-do...One day I'll write a new tune. :D

This whole thing is tighter than a frog's asshole, and as a frequent rapist of frogs, let me assure you how tight that really is. Any comments I might possibly make would be purely personal preference items anyway, and I don't even have anything I can think of other than as I'm imagining what...

CONTEST THREAD - who is worthy?

gecko zzed Bruthish RAMI; Schwarzenyaeger I appreciate the kind words a lot. I don't wanna' bump somebody off the front page just to post this song twice, mostly because I haven't posted here in a very long time. But it means a lot that you listened and commented. Thanks again and cover...
