    Homemade bass trap for ~125Hz

Is it possible to have a relatively broadband resonator (for bass at least)?

    Quick question

What would you do to the 1st track here? Sorry it's myspace, but I just want some quick, general mastering suggestions. Cheers

    Homemade bass trap for ~125Hz

Normal rolls of insulation works well left rolled up and piled in the corners. For a more professional/tailored absorber, you might want to look into resonating bass traps.

    Auralex Question

Tbh, I've just installed 30 18"x18"x2" foam tiles in my studio. But I have combined these will adequate bass trapping, and it has reduced the horrid ring I had in my tiny rooms. One thing I did notice in one room, however, that the 2" foam has accentuated the boominess slightly. Maybe I need...

    Auralex Question

If you bought 2 kits, sell at least 1. 64sq ft of 2" foam is way too much for that room. You will need bass traps in that size of room. They should be cheaper than an Auralex kit if you build them yourself.

    Books on Acoustics

Hi guys, Next year I'll be studying my honours year in Commercial Music, and for my dissertation plan to focus on Acoustics. I'm starting early, I don't start 4th year until September, and am compiling a reading list. Do you guys, especially our resident experts Ethan, Rod, etc., have any...

    Unrelated Acoustic Question

I'm surprised no-one, not even Rod Gervais, has said this, but sound isolation involves mass and AIR PROOFING. You might want to look into better seals around your doors and windows. I doubt you'll really be able to do much about tyre rumble, but even with this there may again be issues of...

    I wouldn't ;)

Im new here:just built my new studio

Cool. What acoustic treatment do you have planned, it seems that you only have a few foam panels?

    Amateur studio advice?

What kind of room are you recording/mixing in? Dealing with the acoustics will probably do a hell of a lot more than changing some budget mics for slightly dearer budget mics, and may well be cheaper too! :D

    Rockwool

It's not really a comparison, imo. Rockwool is intended for acoustics and insulation between walls. A better comparison would be between Phonewell board and normal plasterboard.

    New Home Studio Design

Your main isolation concerns will probably be the window and door. Make sure these are as massive (heavy) as possible and sealed (airtight). You may find, however, that you don't need to bother with isolation. For acoustics, your main concern will be bass traps, then you want to treat the first...

ok can someone answer my quick question

    Yes that's fine. :D

    this is pretty clever.

Basic clouds can be build just like bass traps. Some even build them without the frames (bunch a fearties :p).
