New version at the same link. Tightened stuff. Less Bass. Concert hall verb. Adding a little mando tomorrow. Room for HF tinkle...and it kinda gets Union Station b'grassy in parts. Not quite done. I appreciate the help on this one, gents. Sincerely.

    A first original for ctitique

Ah! I delicately suggested she do a little variation. She's nervous...and stuck to her script. She relented, and gave a little dipsy-doodle at the very end of the last few seconds of the last vocal track. That's a start! I used it. Guitar is the instrument I can, allegedly, play...and...

Thanks, Rob... Yup...the drum overheads. I snipped some noise and faded the tracks in. Nice pickup...bat-ears. I can't hear that HF stuff unless I blast it. TX!!!

    A first original for ctitique

No worries, mate. Appreciate the autopsy. I Had Joanne sing three vocal tracks: a selection of trackage to fix pitch and vibrato issues in the best take. I highlighted the hookie and melodically memorable lines with doubling, using spare material. Didn't plan it...just a lark. I thought it...

:^) If I could play like LSO cellists, I'd make the parts blast! But all I wanted to do is create a little interest and open the field for effect and ...uh emo. jimmys69 I noticed some of the side-stick snare hits are a bit late. Sorry if I'm pickin at ya Jimmy...that was a valuable tip...

TX Dave! I think I'm gonna can the drums, though; I have a good master without the drums: more space, clarity, etc. Maybe substitute bongos....the swish on the snare and the crashes seem unnecessary. Just filling all the space, stealing thunder from the groove.

No prollum! Not only are they dragging...but I couldn't get a righteous 'tock' happening. More shedding!

The cheesey orchestra is real fiddles. Four violins, two viols, two cellos. I played every track, yesterday; no EQ-ing or other voodoo. Going back to edit the slop today. If the string ensemble sounds cheesy, it's my struggle with execution: trying to bow the parts I hear, and loosing...

Cole Clark - Recorded Direct - Opinions?

YouTube - ‪Tommy Emmanuel - The Robin‬‏ Tom Emmanuel's "Robin". I compare your line playing to the best. For your , maybe, curiosity. I assumed that you were Aussie...playing a Clark. Cole had a large part in developing Maton guitars....the sound package, I think. Thought you'd know about TE

MP3 Player SoundClick I recorded, and orchestrated this first original song by Joanne Nunez of RI. I'd appreciate any crits...EQ.....lemme know what pokes you in the ears. I already know the drums suck. :^)

    Advice on this song? (demo)

Very mechanical MIDI piano...stiff and lifeless. Bass too big and uninteresting. The whole could use some "organics". Harmonically and rythmically very narrow. And inadequate preparation for the modulation....brain gets twisted with the unexpected turn. Not in a good way. Melody weak and...

    Jazzy Blues

I don't mind the snaps off to the side - they're where I'd expect them to be with the impatient clarinetist who has to be heard in some form or other. That's close to the original intention......dancers waiting cue to rehearse steps...off to the side; but it seemed a little distracting...

Yup. I love that beasty bass thing. That track was recorded with a Shure SM58, set 16" in front of the F hole on the treble side. There's no compression or EQ-ing on the entire mix, just a brickwall that clips a couple transients on the master. Very pristine recording. I got the bass set...

Kind of you. However, they are buried in the mix...cuz they are lame. They add nothing but noise. I have to get jiggy wid it, and play along with sticks [can't make brushes work very well] and shedshedshed. If I can't get something nice after a week, I'll just go with the finger snaps...
