If I'm not mistaken I think a .dll file is a driver. Check out the drivers on your pc and look around on the fasoft site for help. Also go on the fasoft n-track forum and ask about it. Those guys know a lot about n-track.
I think I remember what I did to make the hiss less noticable. I turned the trim about 1/2 way and cranked up the track level. This increased the volume but decreased the hiss. Might be something totally different with the noise you are getting. Like bd said about the lights and such. You have...
Ok. Are you trying to transfer more than one track at a time? I've never transferred but one at a time using wavmanager.
I don't know this is very weird. Do you have the MR-8 in USB mode? I think you have to tell it where to transfer. Try My documents. Hang in there we are gonna figure this out.
Sounds like you got them set right. You might want to try leaving the master level where you have it. Turn the trim all the way up and adjust the level on the track you are recording on. The reason I keep thinking about the levels is when I recorded some pre-recorded soundtracks that were from...
Even with a cheap Radio Shack mic I still don't see where all the hiss is coming from. I still think maybe you have something set the wrong way. Where are you setting the master level, track level, and trim at on the MR-8?
I don't think it has to be blank. When you update it in the MR-8 it does not have to be blank. You might do yourself some good (if you have XP?) to just get a USB cable. Makes things somewhat easier.
Hang in there Monster. You are gonna get it soon. Probably from now on you should just record a...
I use two free plugins with n-track for finishing touchs.
I use anwida reverb light. The best reverb I've heard free or not. www.anwida.com . It is free.
I use a compresser plug called endorphin. It is easy to use and is also free. www.digitalfishphones.com
Both of these were used on this...
I'm guessing it is the mic. Are you using a condenser or dynamic? Mixer/preamp or straight into MR-8?
Just thought of something else. Where is your trim set? What are the levels on the tracks? What is the "input A select" switch set on. It needs to be on "line" if you are pluggin a mic in.
The berry UB series mixers have some of the best rated pre amps in the low price range. I've heard a Studio Projects B-1 and a MXL 990 (I think that is the right #). I will probably be buying one of the two myself.
I have been using a Shure beta 58a and have heard recordings (vocals) done with...
You don't need the card reader if you have Windows 2000 or XP. If you have v 1.02 you need to update before you will be able to transfer tracks. Update from the fostex site. A USB cable does not come with the MR-8.
Welcome Scourge. I second what the guys are telling you and would like to add something. When I started I did searches within the Fostex forum and learned a lot.
Re: Thanks, but
I've dealt with Musician's Friend a lot and they are pretty good about answering product questions within 24 hours. I'd give it a shot.
Re: N TRACKS etc
The version that buck is talking about is on the screen when you turn the MR-8 on and it boots up. Just watch when you turn it on and it will say V 1.0x. If it doesn't say at least 1.03 then you need to update. Which is also done on the fostex site. Until I updated to 1.03 I...
