If you are using n-track or something else on your pc that uses VST or DX plugins a effects processor would be a waste of money. I'd check out what mixers have the best preamps and look at getting it.

No, they are for when it is set on line/mic input. It is probably not what the problem is since you are using a preamp, but it might be worth a try. Like I said, if I don't have the mic simulation set on anything my vocals will sound grainy.

What are you setting the mic simulation on. Although, I use a dynamic I don't get a good vocal recording unless I use the dynamic or condenser setting. When I don't use the mic simulation it sounds grainy and when I use the tube simulation it sounds muddy.

I "heard" that it just allows different brands of cards and resolves some card issues. But, that is just what I heard. I'm sticking with v1.03 until I know exactly what v1.05 does. Mine is working fine now with the current version.

Where did you buy it from? If they have a good return policy I would not hesitate to ship that sucker back. Sad to say you are one of the only people that I have heard on here that have had a problem with a MR-8.

You'll know if you got this. It was like some kind of living thing. While I was installing the McAfee the ncase thing acted like it was going into some kind of fit and 52 pop ups came up in the matter of seconds. Like it was some kind of wild animal trying to stay alive. It's dead now.
