I was reading a thread on the n-track forum (www.fasoft.com) about pre-amps. The guys on there said that the pre-amps on the Behringer MX series mixers are not as good as the UB series. Might be something to think about.

There is also, I can't remember exactly where, screen settings where you can make the screen easier to read. Check under menu and system.

When you turn the MR-8 on watch the screen and it will say what version you are running. If you have a version lower than version 1.03 you will have issues transferring files to the pc. I have version 1.03 and haven't had any problems whatsoever. I would like to also know what is the difference...

You shouldn't have any trouble running n-track at all. I believe with your OS you will have to have a card reader to transfer files, but some of the others on here can help you out on that. I'm running XP and am not familiar with the readers. Oh yeah, and n-track is software. It's not but about...

If I am buying a inexpensive (less than $200) condenser to be used primarily for vocals and it is the only condenser that I will have (until I can afford another) should I be looking at a large or small diaphram condenser?

Bigsnake, I've learned that the best thing to do after recording something is dump it in the pc and don't even listen to it again for about a week. I think they call this mixing on "fresh ears".
