Thanks. I've tried that but there is just no signal coming into the compressor. Is the signal automatically supposed to come out from the 'insert' or do I have to do special routing/patching? Does the fact that I am using as a tape return mean that the insert will not route the same signal...

It's basically like Y shaped and at the three ends are line connectors. I was told that this was an insert connector and that what happens is that you plug the tail of the Y into the insert of the mixer and then take the other 2 ends into the in and out of the preocessor.

Sorry to keep going on Dobro, but I find that say I solo just the bass drum and do the narrow q/boost/sweep thing, the sound just changes as I turn, I don't find a 'dramatic' point whilst sweeping, or am I doing it wrong?

Just to check with you all, you do this narrow q/boost/sweep thing on a particular track/channel with the rest of the mix playing right? i.e. you dont solo it and do it, am I assuming correctly?

Hello, I read a lot of articles on parametric eq's where people say use the Q to sweep the frequencies to find where the frequency for a particle sound is. How does one do this please?

I see, I wasn't aware that an optical compressor functions in that way. I've searched for info on optical compressors but I only seem to come across info on the other types and when I do find something on optical, it's usually some text on a certain unit which is not similar to the VMP...
