    Hip hop beats RTAS?

Hi, i'm using ProTools LE, can anyone please recommend any good RTAS (or even VST) software I can use for Hip-hop beats? I am not really into loops, just looking for the raw, hard drum sounds. Thanks.

    Protools and VST instruments

Thanks a lot, I never even knew this existed. Has it been around for long? It says it works on Protools LE 6 and higher, I wonder if it will work on my version 5.3? Thanks

    Protools and VST instruments

Hi, I use Protools LE with Digi001 box. Anyone know the best way I can use all these more economical VST plug-ins for my music. It seems so unfair that I am limited in the midi stuff I can use. I use a lot of live bass and guitar on my music but would like to be able to use all these cheap...

    Autotune question

Thanks for that. I was thinking of getting the new Autotune 4 but thought i'd check with 'society' before I commit myself. I expect it should be useful with things like lead guitar and bass parts as well. Should be worth it I guess.

    Autotune question

Don't know how many have experience of using Antares Autotune. I tried the demo version a while back and found it okay except when I tried it on a number of different tracks my computer ran out of cpu or ram or whatever. The trial period ended before I could get round to doing much else with it...

    Tuning keyboards and modules

I am getting an increasing number of keyboards and modules and constantly messing with the tuning and detuning etc as things are now beginning to sound wrong to my ears. I was wondering does anyone know whether anything exists which automatically tunes keyboards/modules/ even other instruments...

    Problems with cutting to vinyl!!

Hi guys. I am having problems with a mastering suite. My master is on DAT and when they master to vinyl the sound is all distorted, mainly the vocals. They inform me that this is my fault because I have used certain processing on the vocals that do not work with vinyl. All I have used on the...

    Autotune or not?

Hi guys. I am just about to do a mixdown for a forthcoming single and wondering whether or not I should be using autotune for the mix. The vocals sound good to me, but I keep reading all these articles whereby people are saying that they can not do without autotune and how it is an essential...

    Compressor for studio

Thanks Green Hornet. Johnall, I understand what you mean, but I always like to get something good on tape in the first place, especially for example if I will be recording slapped bass which almost aways tend to cause digital clipping on my system and if it doesn't clip, the quiet bit is somehow...

    Compressor for studio

Hi guys, I intend to start recording live bass and guitars onto my ProTools system. I will be needing a compressor and was wondering what people genrally knew about the Focusrite Penta or the DBX 266? Both are in my budget range. Or can you all advice any other brands in that price region?

    Quick midi help

For years i've always used a midi chain but the chain now seems to be getting too long. CAn anyone please tell me what I need to get so I don't use a chain. Hopefully the most cost effective method please. I've heard of midi thrus and boxes, etc. I really don't know which I need. For info, I...

    Tascam DM24 vs. Yamaha O1V96?

Don't know anyone who isn't 'still learning' the DM24. My one criticism is the learning curve, but once you learn to work the basics, it's not a problem, it's only when you try to use it in all of it's beastiness that you need to do a bit of swotting. But they're fantastic machines.

    Tascam DM24 vs. Yamaha O1V96?

Hi, I have the DM24, never used the O1V but I considered it before I bought the DM24 almost two years ago. I did some extensive research, the details of which I can't remember now but I know I opted for the DM24 for good reasons. It really is a good mixer, the only criticism I would have is...

    Vocals treatment

Thanks for the reply and advice, i'll give it a go. So basically from what I gather, you're also advising compression and reverb treatments and not really much else. I thought probably some other gizmos were used. The vocalist I have is actually quite good, it's just I was wondering how I could...
