    Do you have a collection?

That makes perfect sense. And to add, doesn't playing just add tension unless you play slide? :D

What order do you record instruments when multitracking?

Hehe, I do that too when I'm hitting that writer's block. Sometimes what comes out in a completely random manner ends up being cool. All my guitar solos are generally improv until I do one that I like the arrangement on. Then, I "learn" it, tweak and finally settle. :)

What order do you record instruments when multitracking?

I usually start with a programmed scratch drum track, but after that it could be guitar, bass, or keyboards, depending on what I'm hearing in my head. I tend to write and track at the same time, with the notion that the entire mix is going to be a scratch mix and that I'll start later with a...

    Gibson/Epiphone lies

What constitutes "finishing?" I'm curious. Does that mean they slapped some strings on it and sent it out, or does it mean it's actually "finished" (as in the woodworking sense) here in the U.S?

Pay $1300, or be a musician and learn to tune?

Cute "Flame Suit" tags. Does that work? :p Nah, if you have the money, go for it. Unless they're no-names who can't actually afford to hire techs, but just do it because they think it's cool. Then, they're douchebags. Sorry if you need this kind of innovation and were offended.

    Best Freeware Guitar AMP sim?

I wouldn't be too disappointed, Amplitube is pretty bad-ass. It's also seems much easier and faster to dial up a nice tone. (But I still haven't tried all the free alternatives...)

Pay $1300, or be a musician and learn to tune?

I like my Peterson. :D When I was going to the local open mic "blues night," which normally consisted of about 10-20 musicians taking turn on stage for some 12 bar improv, we'd just tune by ear to the keyboard. Never saw an issue with it, or a need for $1300 worth of tuners.

Pay $1300, or be a musician and learn to tune?

Well, I usually try to search before asking a question, but this was more of a vent on my part after a stressing week. :)

    Home Recording's Dirty Little Secret

I live in Eastern NC and there are a lot of really great musicians here, but the music scene sucks because the only bands that get the followings and bookings are the ones who play nothing but f**king classic rock covers. That, or beach music. *gag* Seriously, when are these people going to...

    Good point. :)

Pay $1300, or be a musician and learn to tune?

I absolutely agree, but at a *much* better price. And smaller footprint, those tuners are HUGE! As a "technology person" by nature (I LOVE my gadgets, especially my BlackBerry, or anything with blinking LEDs and LCD screens) I'm still a bit of an old curmudgeonly fart when I comes to my guitar...

Pay $1300, or be a musician and learn to tune?

Damn. I'm always last to know. LOL. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is pretty silly.

Mod my strat? Lefty needs help!

I'd do an electronic upgrade on the Mexi-strat rather than buy a $150 guitar. Lots of people say bad things about the Mexican made stuff, but I've never noticed these same issues and I've played many of these over the past few years. As far as I know, the Mexi's use different body woods, the...

Pay $1300, or be a musician and learn to tune?

For that much money, it BETTER!!! Even if it is just a gimmick, it better be every bit the quality gimmick it claims to be. It has an intonation adjustment feature as well. Turn a screw depending on the color of the blinking light. This would be "neat" for a couple hundred bucks, but for...

Pay $1300, or be a musician and learn to tune?

I know it shouldn't, but for some reason this annoys me. http://www.tronical.com/ These are the tuners that come on Gibson's "Robot Guitar" (AKA: Expensive gimmick for douchebags.) I guess since it's a Gibson it'll be a collector's item one day. If you can't tune a guitar, you shouldn't pay...

jesus- my eyes can't see him!

Ya know, I've heard some of His mixdowns and I have to say: stick to walking on water. Plus, I hate hippie jam bands, lose the robe and sandles and get a real job. Jesus Christ, who want's to listen to a freakin' harp play the same riff for twenty minutes?!?

    Simple acoustic songs?

That one has a cool solo at the beginning. I've always wanted to cover that and record the intro guitar part, play it back through my iPod's FM transmitter through a cheap radio and then record that to simulate the lo-fi thing they do at the beginning. :)

Do you really buy that expensive recording software?

I totally agree. I think Reaper is a great alternative for hobbyists, and has more features than Cubase LE even. $50 for the "hobbyist" (non-commercial) license. I even think some professionals are using it too.

Do you really buy that expensive recording software?

You know what they say, never discuss software piracy or illegal music downloads. ..or was that politics and religion? I get those confused. :p
