I understand this is an ancient thread, but... there are those of us who don;t want to scrap our working Firewire 400 interfaces(FP10)..
I recently wiped my hard drive & went on the search for the Windows 10 drivers....
What I did:
1) Installed PreSonus_Universal_Control_4_3_1_100005 found here...
lol funy
I suppose shoving rockwool, or some other insulation between the joists probably isn;t worth the expense...
I'll just deal with it, & worst case I end up having to mix with phones sometimes...not my favorite by a longstretch
Thanks fellas, for all the replies so far
Howdy fellas... here's the deal: I'm re-inheriting a basement room that's approx. 10' x 11' +\-
Walls are: 79" from floor to flooring
Joists are 6" high
The room above it, is my wife's PIANO(5 ft baby grand) and voice teaching studio....(it's a carpeted 12x12 room)
And a few of my kids play...
looks like it was the little board that houses the XLR & 1/4" inputs...
when I disconnected the cable from it to the main board, the problem went away!
yeah , I started touching up solder joints last night, maybe I should make sure I hit em all.
I wonder if there's a damaged Cap that I just can't see visually..
thanks for the reply..
Rich
So, I've got a KRK Rokit 5 of this vintage(G1 I believe)
Pretty much every online post/video I've seen of the dreaded KRK Rokit noises is a whine, or crackling, or hum...etc
My Monitor is more horrible in nature..
It might work ok for a minute, then it emits a ear-piercing screech, followed...
This noise happens with or without a sound source inout, so we're talking
an internal issue...
I opened it up last night, and did not see anything amiss on the board: no bulging caps, etc
Just wondering if anyone knows for sure a good suspect, for an intermittent issue such as this.
Thanks...
Good frikin heavens.
I never had the pleasure of following the construction thread, but just perused the pics..
I'm almost speechless
I mean, I know it's all just ashes & rust in the end but holy cow man...
That's way beyond what I'd consider a 'home studio'.
That's a major labor of love, and...
I'm impressed with you fellas for showing such patience with this fellow, and being so supportive.
I also agree about the Cathedral choice, or something akin to that..
Nothing like long verb trail at the end of a vox passage to give that lush effect..
cheers,
Rich
yeah I do feel lucky/blessed to have a room all to myself to putz with.
Downside is, this is a 100 year old cape, and the basement is musty.
The dehumidifier I have running fills up in a night...crazy
We've had a tom of rain lately.
Need to finish wallls..
Imminent upgrade to Presonus s/ware to...
Howdy lads!
I had a roughly a 11x12 ish basement space to work with(feel very lucky actually)
Walls are far from finished, and much more would need to be done to really make it
right, but I'm on my way.
Prersonus StudioOne DAW, Rockit5 monitors
Here's my newly modded Oktava 219 mic(via...
jumping in late on this threrad..
but are you sure it's ambient noise, and not electrical noise?
seems odd a dynamic would ever be more sensitive to a condenser that
is at least as large in diaphragm, and quality..
my .02
I can't believe how poorly written my post was.
By saying Monitors, I meant monitor in the viewing sense: LCD,CRT & otherwise..
Man, I shoulda known...
:)
even more traffic...
Ok, lads, I'll chime in...seeing how I'm soon to be a new Fostex owner..
I snagged a VF160 on ebay & I should have it any day now..
I used to own a HD1880 Roland & it was pretty cool. Great effects..
Someone asked me if the VF160 offered any sort of outboard monitor...
So, I've never used a Fostex machine.
I have however, used the Roland 1880, 1680 and found the effects cards to be quite nice.
Do the Fostex effects compare favorably , does anyone know?
Rich
Ok, so Magic Hat brewing is running a contest to vie for an online shopping spree(I need recording gear I cannot afford!)
