    Summing Mixer

I built mixer once whith pan controls too and it worked well except for earthing noise. Im just wondering if those resistors are the right values? I suppose Op amps would add a bit of noise. But you can't beat the quality of a cheap behringer?

    newbie needs help! :)

There are no digital outs on the Yamaha MD4s, you only have analog outs. The simplist thing is to master to your computer and burn. You could add a layer of analog tape or whatever inbetween. The yamaha MD4s also has seperate outputs of each of the 4 tracks which you could send to an external...

any thoughts on modifying Casio keyboard

:D I probably will put a socket and bypass switch in so it could run from an external amp. May I say that a simple idea for those who have smallish type controllers would be to sit them on a base deep enough to mount 2 powered speakers on the back. Its quite silly for the majors to miss that...

any thoughts on modifying Casio keyboard

I needed a better computer keyboard controller, and came across this Casio CTK496 which was on sale whith a can't give it away price, so I picked it up.:D The keyboard action is quite good and evan some of the sounds might possibly be able to use. After I got it out of the box and messed around...

    DIY Passive Studio Monitors?

Sealed boxes are a lot easier to build than ported boxes. If you need them to be ported it might be just simpler to buy monitors. There is a lot of mathematics and trial and error in building ported boxes unless its a kit.

    Are you an analogue purist?

I track to digital first, then analog, and finally back to digital for burning, that is if Iv completed a track in the first place.:p As you can see Im not a complete analog purist, I think if you were it would not go back to digital for burning and we would not use CD's. May I say some poeple...

    here's a crazy question

don't those tascam units have rca ins for mixers and such? Silly that they don't have inserts? Its probably possible to add inserts, but also possible to damage too. They are supposed to be an all in one multitrack recording solution, then again they could have just sold as simply a 4 or 8 track...

any advantage of duplicating a fast speed?

might be a silly question:D, would there be any advantage duplicting from computer to a 4track cassette to be played back on a normal stereo cassette machine. What Im saying is the track in the computer has been sped up. High speed cassette duplication was mainly a commercial way to make many...

    Cassette tape questions.

If your machine say's chrome then that is what you are meant to put in to get the best performance out of the machine. But there is nothing realy saying that you can't put any other tape in your machine acept you won't get the best audio peformance. Iv got good results by using the cheap type...

    Build a 2" 16 track RTR NEW?

Probably to difficult to do it from scratch, but you could possibly modify a stereo unit into more tracks i.e 4 tracks. The more tracks you want the bigger and more powerful the motors would need to be. Or you could keep your eye out for a broken or incomplete unit. I remember seeing on ebay...

    heard of teczon cassette machine?

Has anyone of heard of the Teczon Dub Multi 2x4 4 track multitrack cassette machine? I don't know what country it came from? It slightly resembles the old tascam multitracks. It has the VU meters, but no sliders in that they are all pots, and has 2 band EQ. Not sure whether it records all 4 at...

    got a korg CR4

I got one of these now cheap:D The audio specs are not too good whithout noise reduction and it is normal speed too. It does have a noise gate, amp/microphone modelling and other effects. The speakers are handy for quick monitoring. I know the Tascam's are better units, but I thought this one...

    Tascam DBX units

Iv got a nakamich unit which is similiar to the DBX and have DBX on 2 portastudio machines. The specs of the portastudio's whith DBX off is not too good, up to 12.5 khz and about 60db signal to noise ratio I think. I get a lot of pumping whith bass and drums on the same track whith DBX on. I...
