    Repair Your Nuts

Here's an old trick, for a quick fix on nuts. Repair them yourself and save money. In the old days, I'd use wood glue and sawdust for under nut support. Temporary/emergency fixes, for sure. If you are careful, you can use the thinned out SuperGlue, to glue bone and other nut materials...

Adding veneer to my old bass

Way to go! I have a elec. 6 guitar from Ebay, think I paid $40.00 and it plays as good as any other Fender or Gibson. Just as smooth and fast, as the LPs and Strats. Haven't taken it apart yet to compare electronics. Sounds fantastic. Fast sanded neck. Just ain't as pretty.:D Need to get...

    Fun story from work today

"I would much rather be in Texas than NY right now with all the political corruption going on in our state government. Cuomo and Bloomberg are hands down the most insane assholes of the year. Corruption you say?" Yeah, you can go to Texas and have a few million guys like Rick Perry...

ASAP! Is it OK to transport a Hammond organ on it's back?

I know what you mean about the price, the last one I sold, was dried out; but the buyer was happy to get it even after I told him about the price of oil. I made a pretty good profit on that version.;)

    Messing with my tone!

The 2X12 cabs sound/project more, much better; when they are on stands. Good stands aren't very pricey, or build your own stands.

    Short Scale Bass and Lessons

"My 1st bass lessons were tuning - THAT was a waste of my time as I just wanted to play something." That right there, was why I would tell each student to bring their #1, favorite tune, to my studio on the second lesson. I told them, "I'll have you mastering that song/tune in two lessons"...

    Short Scale Bass and Lessons

One thing I did to weed out potential Bass, Guitar, Drums, students; was tell them to snap their fingers in time. If they couldn't clap, or snap their fingers, pat their foot, etc. in time, I'd send them to someone else. Then, teach them a simple, 3 chord, bass song; such as "Bad Moon Rising"...

    Tonewoods....

Yes, the tonewoods only matter in acoustics. And, a great guitar player.......can make any guitar, sound like any other guitar. Notice, I said a "Great Player".

    Tonewoods....

The last guitar I build, will be made from "Hastelloy X". Application Hastelloy X is recommended especially for use in furnace applications because it has unusual resistance to oxidizing, reducing, and neutral atmospheres. Furnace rolls made of this alloy were still in good condition...

    Tonewoods....

" No one is saying that wood makes no difference, but does it make as big a difference as manufacturers and cork-sniffers may want you to think? I don't think so." Right on, Gergola! The rest is manufacturing hype. Just like everything else in the music industry. Music industry sucks.

    Tonewoods....

If you lightly hold the "tonewood" in your left hand, and lightly strike it with your right hand fingernail, you can really tell the difference between species. Sometimes. But, that is if ALL other factors are considered.....moisture content, exact same thickness, finish on each piece being the...

    Tonewoods....

Not really, on an electric guitfiddle. But crazy people, will pay thousands of dollars to have the harder woods. They definitely matter on all types of drums, though.
