    Tracks out of sync!

This past monday, I purchased an M Audio Fast track pro USB recording interface. After testing my new unit for a few days now, I’m stuck with a problem I can’t figure out: My rig: Digitech RP50 effects -- > into Crate GX80 amp -- > miced with a Shure SM57 -- > into left input of my Fast track...

PC + Interface versus Digital recorder

Did you end up getting the laptop/interface/cubase DAW? My comment comes late I know, but I started out 12 years ago as an analog cassette multitracker. Then upgraded to digital standalone recorders. Now I use a mix of all of them. I own a Tascam 2488MKII, where I record my 8 tracks of drums...

How to tell which windows system you have, 32 or 64 bit?

Just installed and tested the Fast track pro. Had some crackle and noise issues at first, but after playing around with buffers, got that fixed. Happy camper here; first time I recorded using an interface:D My system is a Vista Home basic SP1 32 bit. Thanks for the help guys. Cheers!

Thanks again guys:D:D Now I know which drivers to download:cool: Been a 10+years standalone multitracker, and now getting started with PC recording; it sure has lots of settings and parameters I completely ignored. Just bought an M-Audio Fast Track Pro interface to use with my laptop. Cheers!

    Latency using an analog mixer

NY, you're right, I could just use the Tascam; problem is, I have it setup permanently where I record drums. The laptop is used as a mobile studio setup. I know using the Tascam would be the easy way out, but I refuse to accept I just threw away $800 on a new laptop; that's why I want the...

    Tascam US122L + Vista + Cool Edit Pro 2.0

As I got to know in the last thread I posted, I'm now on the lookout for a new USB interface. Anyone has any experience with this rig? If not, at least I would like to know what you think of an US122L interface working on a Vista enviroment. Cheers!

Thanks mate! I will try updating the existing driver. And if that doesn't work, do you suggest installing the Asio4all driver? Thanks again.

    Latency using an analog mixer

I really can't understand why I'm having latency problems with my new laptop; my setup and rigging hasn't changed, except for the new laptop that is. *Here's how I rig: 1) I use a Peavey PV6 analog mixer. All my mics and line instruments go into this board. 2) I plug my board's tape out into...

DIY short mic stand (for use on kicks etc)

I should try using rubber bands and see if it makes a difference. For the time being, the sound I'm getting is what I aimed for:)

DIY short mic stand (for use on kicks etc)

Good Ideas guys! I've too "shortened" mic stands by cutting some tubing off, and yeah, it works great:) I've found a better way (at least to me;)) to mic kick drums though, check it out.

    Nico style cheap shockmount!

Thanks for all the comments guys, really appreciate them:) I can't take credit for something that's not mine:rolleyes:, I took this design from a guy named Tim O'Brien, and changed it a bit to suit my mic. Basically I used these materials: 1 4" PVC cap 8 small eyelets - braided nylon fishing...
