    bass cab mic

I've used a Shure SM7B and a Sennheiser MD421, but I'm really quite fond of the AT ATM25. Works well on a variety of cabs. Joel

Members average number of mics and a list...

Hard to believe this thread has been going for most of 4 years and 23 pages. Here's my contribution! I run an SR company as well as the recording studio, so some mics were purchased for live sound. LCDs: CAD M177 --------- I like this mic. Sounds very neutral to me. My first LDC. AT AT3525...

What can you do with cheap mics?

Love the song, Phil !! My one suggestion would be to bring the vocals up just a bit at the beginning of the song. I really had to "lean in" to hear the vocals when they first started. I'm a vocalist, so of course that's what I listen for. Great song. The structure, story, playing, all very...

    Tom Mics (200 budget)

I agree with Kenny, the ATM25 is hard to beat for the money. I use them on kick and floor tom. They're very good at bringing out the lower frequencies. If you like the sound of your toms, look into the Audix D2 and/or the D4. These mics seem to be good at reproducing the sound without...

    Mic cases

Doc, I have two of the aluminum cases that I picked up at one of the giant "do-it-yourself" hardware stores a couple of years ago. The included foam was pre-sliced into 1/2" squares, so it was simple enough to make pockets for different mics. I then added a piece of foam, about 2 1/2" thick to...

    Behringer MX3282A or MX9000?

Actually Scott, there's a Carvin mixer presently on eBay that may better fit your needs. It's their 24/8 mixer with a meter bridge. I'd post a link, but can't seem to figure out how to do that on this forum. Do a search on eBay. Look for Carvin 24/8 in the title. Joel PS. I've used both...

    worth it?

Try Audiopile.com. Mark and Liz are a pleasure to work with and EWI cables are way better than their price would suggest. I've been using them for some time and have never had a problem. Joel P.S. I'd put up a link, but I haven't figured out how to do that on this forum yet!

    re-wiring ribbon mic

I'd try the Shack. They should have any size wire you'd need for that. I think I'd be concerned about heat form a soldering iron near the ribbon. I'm not a tech, but you may want to consult someone who'd know. Just a thought! Joel
