    Soldering Cables

After looking at the prices of some of these top brand audio cables, I decided I would solder my own. I bought 100' of Mogami audio cabling and a bunch of Switchcraft 1/4" TS cable ends. I just wanna know how I should solder these cables correctly. I assume I should coat both the surface and...

    Punk/Emo Distortion Sound

Okay...I’ve been listening to lots of sound samples and been thinking about this more and I think I have reached my decision. I'll get either a V-Amp 2 or a J-Station and use the extra cash for a pair of M-Audio SP-5B monitors. So I’ve got one more question, the V-Amp 2 or the J-Station? I...

    Punk/Emo Distortion Sound

I have a small Frontman 15 watt amp and a Tubeworks Real Tube pedal that I use to record. (It’s all I got) I'm not pleased with the sound I can get from this setup....I usually mic the amp with a SM57. Here is a link to a little blip I recorded. It’s just drums and guitar, no bass, so I know...

Micing Drums w/ Multi In Soundcard

I wasn't quite sure where to post this, but i figured this was the best place. I currently submix all my drums in my little Behringer MX1604A mixer and send the main outs to the ins on my studiophile 2496 soundcard. I can get decent results this way but I am thinking of upgrading to a...

    Basic Mixing

Hey Everyone, I have finally purchased some decent equipment for my small bedroom "studio". I can get nice clean sounding tracks and lay them all out in Cakewalk, but then I'm stuck, I don't really know what to do next. All of my songs sound good but not great like a lot of commercial CDs i...

    Passive Monitors?

Thanks for all the help Slackmaster! I guess I'll take your advice and go for some monitors. I'll hang on to my nice computer speakers and probably end up using those for listening to music...or I'll grow to like listening to music through the monitors. But thanks again for your help. -Scott

    Passive Monitors?

BTW - This is probably a really dumb question but...Is it ok to keep amplifiers on their sides? -Scott

    Passive Monitors?

Thanks a lot for the help! I think I’m going to buy some speakers and then go for a higher wattage amp later. Does anyone have recommendations on a pair of speakers that will give me an accurate sound...but still sound good for playing music too? I’m going to be using these to record but I...

    Passive Monitors?

It's a NAD 7220PE. I couldn't find specific specs for 4 or 8 ohms, but i did read that it has 35 watts per channel. I dont know what setting that is for. Thanks, Scott

    Passive Monitors?

I have a really nice NAD stereo amplifier that I’ve got hooked up to my computer. What passive monitors would you recommend? I was looking at a pair of Bose stereo speakers and sub-woofer; will these do the same thing? I would like to keep the price under 300 if I can. Thanks, Scott
