    16/44 vs 24/48

Why not 88.2 instead of 96kHz?? Why is it that everyone always talks about 96kHz as the upgrade from 44.1 or 48kHz??? My PC isn't powerful enough at the moment, but if I could I would record at 24/88.2 and NOT 24/96...Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you get a better result...

    Pentium 4

Friends don't let friends buy PIVs It does "seem" better 'cause it's got a big number next to it, but in real life a 1.5 PIV doesn't give you much more processing power than a PIII for audio applications. It might actually perform worse in some applications... If you want power, go with a...

    Hearing tests

C'mon people.... You learn to hear, it's not a matter of having your hearing stack up to superman's... The golden ears of the biz today weren't born with some kind of super-ear....They just learnt how to hear after years and years of careful listening in a studio environment... So unless...

    Electronic Drumkit and MIDI???

Shem, Actually, the drumkit isn't mine, it belongs to the drummer in my band. He agreed to leave it in my 'homestudio' so I could hit it when we weren't recording, but I really don't know anything about drums nor electronic drumkits. In my opinion the cymbals don't sound natural, and the...

    downside of DDR SDRAM?

DDR Ram is 10 to 25% faster than the 'good old' SD RAM, but it's also slightly more expensive. I think the A7M266 motherboard is also more expensive than the A7V... So going with DDR will cost you a bit more, but if you can afford it, it's worth it.

music or graphics whats the difference

To see them. That's what 19" monitors are for. Nah seriously I understand what you mean. Of course if a mix sounds good it's good. But unless you're a big shot engineer with golden ears I don't think you'll get your mix to sound perfect the first time around...So for us 'homerecordists'...

Best motherboard for a 1.4Ghz AMD CPU?

Ask the people at M-Audio but I would go with an A7M266 which uses the AMD761 chipset. Or you could wait a few month for the nForce chipsets, that's what I'm doing...:D

Where, online, can I buy a Studio Projects C1?

No offense, but I think that's because a lot of people who buy the C1 (me included, except I haven't bought one yet ;)) are hobbyists who didn't own a LD condenser before. So of course, they are very pleased when they hear the C1 compared to the dynamic mic they owned before... And for the...

    Electronic Drumkit and MIDI???

I'm convinced! So there's no downside to using Midi and it gives more control over what's recorded?? Great!!! I'll definitely get started one of these days as soon as I've bought the 'Joystick adapter' for my Sblive! Thanks

    Electronic Drumkit and MIDI???

Thanks for your answers Senor Cactus and AlChuck! I still have some questions though... Does this mean I would have one Midi track for each part of the drumkit? for example, could I pan one tom left and the other right if I recorded my drumkit in Midi? The way I record it now, the whole...

    Which processor is THE processor?

So why do you ask for a chipset recommendation?? you said you were gonna go with the A7M266...That's an AMD761 chipset which I think is a good choice for stability.... Via chipsets can be a bit dodgy and I would definitely stay away from the Ali chipsets...Don't know about SiS chipsets...

    Which processor is THE processor?

The chipset comes with the motherboard: if someone recommends a motherboard, it's often because of the chipset on it. There you go :)

    Electronic Drumkit and MIDI???

I've got a Yamaha DTX electronic drumkit which has a MIDI input and output. Now before I go on I have to state that I've never used MIDI IN MY LIFE. Yes, I'm a complete MIDI-moron, so please keep your explanations simple :) 1. Ok I think the drumkit sounds fairly good through my Joemeek VC6Q...
