    MXL UR-1 ribbon USB mic

I looked at the online manual (it will be a few days before the mic is delivered). It has a gain control. That and the headphone jack seem to deal with two of the major issues of usb mics.

    MXL UR-1 ribbon USB mic

This thing is so expensive for an MXL mic that no one seems to have actually tried it out. $499 at B&H or Amazon. I won an auction on ebay tonight for $75, which seems more reasonable. It has a built in pre-amp that is billed as low noise and a headphone jack for low latency monitoring. It...

    Sennheiser MD541/441 FS

This mic was recently checked by Sennheiser USA, and was declared to be in perfect operational condition. Cosmetically it is pretty clean. There are small dents in either side of the screen where someone tried to put a clip down there, I guess. I think it is a 541, as it is all black, and has...

    Hi-Hats

I just replaced my unspeakably bad yamaha hats (brass zildjian) with 14" Zildjian K Mastersounds. I just want to beat on those things all day, they are so good.

Fender Mustang Bass Strings...105 Too Heavy?

The nut slots may be too small for the larger string diameter. This will lead to playability and intonation problems in the lower frets. I don't think the increased string tension would be a big deal, after a truss rod adjustment.

    Bought some drums...

Thanks for the advice. The toms are of the concert variety, so I they are loud. I might get some hydrolic heads to tame them a bit.

    Bought some drums...

...so they had theis 70s vintage slingerland set at the local GC. 23" kick, 16x16 floor tom, 13 and 12 inch rack toms - no snare. They are gloss white, with a pearl ring around the kick. They were $250. Anyone use these or have fond memories? This will eventually (when I get the snare...

    where DO those picks go???

Your dog ate the pick and pooped it out a long time ago. All of the poop washed away, eventually, making the pick visible again.

    Fundamental Stomp Boxes.......

A guitarist in a band I'm in uses a Boss multi fx unit - I can't remember which one. He is seemingly incapable of using simple overdrive or getting a sweet clean sound. Everything has delay/reverb/chorus/phase/octave/compression on it to some degree. The sound is so far removed from honest...

    ibanez theory....

I have a 1986 MIJ As80 (335 clone) . The workmanship is first rate, better than most Gibsons. 80's Japanese Ibanez are beautiful.
