You will find it much more "musical" than the Graces..I have used the Graces and the GreatRivers on drums w/SM81's.I have used the G/R on Kik and Snare and the Grace 101's on overs and vice versa..To me the Great River was better on overs by quite a bit..more headroom and more "depth" to the...

The Edge is a fair player...But a excellent arranger{sp?} of guitar parts..Also not too shabby of a songwriter! When U2 came out they were a breath of fresh air with a very different sound and just teenagers to boot! As for U2/ Edge copies..Big Country and more recently and fairly remenicent...

I also have the Klusons on my Les Pauls also..Im trying to get the balls to change them out ;) I put Sperzels on my 96' Special, it seems like I violated its looks..but it works much better..The Kluson tuners on my R7 absolutly suck!Those Gotohs 510's look classie...Maybe................. :)

I have yet to have a problem {HD24}with any drives ,size or brand..Seagate,Western all of them have be fine..Circut City ,Best Buy whoever has the best prices.I think I've gone thru about 10 or so drives so far..Maybe someone who has gone thru more{amount} will chime in :)

421's on the toms,D6 in the kik and e609 on the snare lately,which has "opened up" the snare sound for me quite a bit over a 57..It could all change tommorow,its a endless search ;)

Its nice to have different gear for different appilcations..However alot of great records and CD's have been cut with board pres only and no stand alones so "variety" was limited to the board..granted it was a most likely a API or Neve or SSL etc. etc. Your Vintech{Neve cloneish} is a good peice...

when you "create" a new song on the HD you can set it for less tracks than 24 ..8 or 16 etc. I like working with it,workflow is comfortable like a analog tape machine,I'm old school too :) You can be pretty quick with it!It also has a "punch pedal". As for the Crest,I've never used one but a 32...

Try the 1272 on the overheads,see if you like it there..might be too "slow"/thick for you, but ya never know!..Toms would be a easy bet..IMHO
